Jane Dale Haworth Mangen passed away peacefully on January 4, 2015 with her loving husband of 65 years at her side, from complications of a stroke she had on December 19, 2014.
She was born August 28, 1931 at Miles City, MT, to Virgil Vinson Haworth Sr. and Gladys Middaugh Haworth. She attended school in Miles City graduating from Custer County High School in 1949, which was the same year she met the love of her life Pierre “Pete” Mangen. They celebrated their 65th anniversary on September 6, 2014 with a barbecue at their son’s home with many family & friends attending including her maid of honor Phyllis Griffin.
Jane was an Avon representative and kept books for years at Mangen’s Electric. She was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the First Baptist Church for her entire life where she sang in the church choir. She hosted the ladies circle meetings at the church and also played the piano and sang at Eastern Star where she acquired many friends. She enjoyed trips to her family’s homes for visits and doted on her grandchildren. She collected owls of all shapes and sizes and also had a spoon collection. She loved playing Knock Em Off. Dale and Pete also took a trip to Luxemburg in September of 1993 to visit relatives on the Mangen side of the family which they really enjoyed. Several winters they flew down to Arizona and stayed with Val and Larry for part of the winter and enjoyed Christmas there. Two years ago, she was the Queen of the Relay For Life Event at the track and was also active in the Relay For Life. She enjoyed bowling for the Family Floral team in her younger years with Val. She was an avid picture taker and not an event went by without having to have pictures taken. She lived in Big Timber with her husband Pete and also in Shelby, Montana. In 1960 they started Electric Motor Shop at 201 South 6th Street and in 1973 they built a new building at 1620 Main Street changing the name to Mangen Electric Inc. where she worked with her husband and kept the shop books for years. She was a wonderful wife, mother of one girl and two boys. She was Pete’s lifetime love from the day he met her.
She is survived by her beloved husband Pete with whom she raised three children; Michael (Dorrie) of Billings, MT, Valeray (Larry) of Goodyear, AZ and Douglas of Miles City; Her grandchildren include Jeremy “Jerry” Mangen, Andrew “Andy” Mangen, Jennifer “Jen” (Brandon) Lantis and Matthew “Matt” (Erin) Edwards, along with great grandchildren, Dylan Lantis, Haley Edwards, Jayson Lantis, Emmalee Edwards and Noah Edwards; and numerous nieces & nephews. She also leaves behind ”Pebbles”, Doug’s dog whom she and Pete “dogsat” every day and whom brought great fun and joy to them daily.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Virgil Vinson Haworth, Jr., and a brother-in-law Chris Mangen Sr.
