Daniel James Cook Sr. passed away on Thursday, June 16, 2022 in Billings, Mt at Advanced Care Hospital of Montana.
To his family and friends he was Dan. Loving Father, Grandpa, Son, Brother, Friend. He is loved by all his close friends and family. He will be be greatly missed.
Dan was born November 19, 1952 to Reverend Robert Edward Cook and Joan Marie Randall. He is the second child of 6 children. Dan was born in Cass City, Michigan. He grew up on a farm in Kingston, Michigan with horses, sheep, donkeys, chickens, pet raccoons and even a pet skunk. With his Dad being a preacher, he and his family were all in Church every Sunday and Wednesday. Dan was a honor student at Kingston High School. He graduated with honors in 1970. He played in the Kingston High School Band and was also on the high school basketball team and was a very good basketball player.
Dan had many talents, he could play the Piano, Guitar, Violin, Bass, Trumpet and Saxophone. As children Dan and his siblings would often gather around the organ that his mom would play, the boys would play their instruments and the girls would sing. Hymns of course, and Dan could sing very well. He had a very good voice. They would also play Blue grass music. And in his spare time he would break horses.
As life’s journey progress he moved to Arkansas at 21years of age, where he worked as a carpenter.
For a short time in his life but one of his fondest was working in the pits of the Nascar Races. Dan and his family also lived in Arizona and then eventually here in Miles City, Montana is where home became to him and his family. Dan worked hard for his family and over the the years he had owned businesses of his own including a Tow Truck Company, a small vehicle mechanic shop and the one he was most proud of was his own construction business that focused on the building of beautiful churches in Arkansas. He worked many other various jobs and spent endless miles as an OTR Driver. His last position was a truck driver for Eckhart Inc., where he truly enjoyed working and viewed The Eckharts and his co-workers there as extended family.
When he wasn’t working, Dan in his younger years, enjoyed and participated in the Michigan Golden Gloves Boxing and also participated in bronc riding in rodeos. Both of which he proudly won awards and received achievements in. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. His most recent and most favorite thing to do was hanging out with his best friend and granddaughter, Aiofe. Oh, the good times the two of them would have together.
He is survived by his son(s) Daniel James Cook Jr. (Keeja) Bridgette and Aiofe, Josh Farley (Kylie) Whisper, Quinton and Aidan, his Granddaughter Jada Cook, Mother (Joan), brothers and sisters: Carolyn Stansbury, Louisiana, David Cook, Kathryn Shelton, Sharon Westerman, Arkansas. 13 Nieces and Nephews, 28 Great Nieces and Nephews. He is preceded in death by his son William Cook and his Dad, Robert.

RIP Dan. We will miss you. We always looked forward to the light-hearted bantering and teasing while we gambled at Gold Dust. Always spoke when we saw him. He seemed to know everyone. Tried to be a grumpy old man but was not very convincing. A sweet guy. Prayers for his family and loved ones 🙏.
