In Memory Of

Daniel Fabert, age 66, of Miles City

July 5, 1957 – March 23, 2024

Daniel Oscar Fabert was born July 5, 1957, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Gail Mae (Worrel) and Daniel Oscar Ed Fabert. Dan was raised as a child in Aberdeen along with siblings Rose, Chuck and Cindy. In 1965 Dan’s father tragically passed away. At an early age Dan remembered going to work for a roofing company where he laid shingles. He continued to do this for a several years until moving to Miles City around 1975 with his mother. In Miles City his family welcomed two more little sisters, Mary and Penny. Upon moving to Miles City, Dan began his lifelong employment with Waste Management (and later Miles City Sanitation) where he remained for 48 years.

In the summer 1984 Dan married Geraldine “Gerry” Strait in the gazebo at Riverside Park. Shortly after they welcomed their son, Chris. Gerry worked for many years at the Holy Rosary Hospital and together they enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and raising their son. On July 10, 2000, Gerry passed away due to cancer.

In 2006 Dan met Kathy Berklund while out dancing. Together they shared 17 years until her passing on December 5, 2023.

Dan enjoyed hunting, camping, bonfires, being outdoors, his television shows (which enjoyably included the fishing channel). He loved fishing above all else. He loved rods, reels, lures, boats, and everything he could collect that displayed his passion and love of fishing. He loved being out at the edge of a river, lake or at Spotted Eagle-until the city began tossing old Christmas trees in, where his line would often get tangled in, later years.

Dan is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his son, Chris Fabert; siblings: Chuck Fabert, Rose McLean, Cindy Whiteneck, Mary Miller and Penny Fabert; numerous nephews and nieces; and adopted/common-law family: step-daughters, Jennifer Markov, Katie Champion and Krisie Batra; step-son-in-law, Nik Batra; and step-grandson, Dain Yother.

At Dan’s request, there will be no services. Dan’s patience, warmth and smile will be missed by many.
