Daniel K. OConnor, age 96, of Wolf Point, Mt passed away Friday, December 29, 2006 at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point.
Dan was born April3, 1910 to Daniel Joseph and Margaret Angelina (Keith) OConnor in St. Paul, Minnesota. He grew up and attended country schools at the Sioux Pass and Two Mile communities. He was the oldest of eleven and was doing a mans work at a young age. He moved to the Poplar area in 1925.Dan Married the love the love of his life, Mary Griswold on May 16, 1937 in Lewistown, Mt and made their home in Poplar. In 1943 they moved to Tule Creek and raised four children: Pat, Michael, Donna, and Rosey.
Dan was a life time farmer and rancher, Farming with horses till his first tractor in 1935. He enjoyed talking on the telephone and was an avid talked when the lines where first put in. He would talk to anybody that was willing to listen. Dan also liked to bargain and was willing to sell anything he had for a price. At one occasion he sold the kitchen table during lunch time. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his joy and taught each of them the art of playing cards.
Dan is survived by his wife, Mary of Wolf Point; his son, Pat and Rita OConnor of Miles City and their children, Casey and Scott OConnor and Shannon Dowse, his son, Michael OConnor of Wolf Point and his children, Shane and Rory OConnor, and his daughter, Donna Mann of Wolf Point and her son, Marvin Mann; eight grandchildren, McKenzie, Jesse, Harley, and Partick Dows, Devin and Barbara OConnor, Evan OConnor an Paige Mann; two brothers, Richard (Wava) OConnor of Sidney, Mt and Red (Joyce) OConnor of Washington; a sister, BettyJane Snyder of Washington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rosey Pierce, grandsons, Lynn Mann and Chris OConnor, brothers, John, Chris, Jim and Charles, and sisters, Margaret, Birdy, and RoseMary.
A memorial service will be held Friday, January 5, 2007 at 2 P.M. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point.
