Dan was born on August 6, 1930 in Ryder, North Dakota to Charles and Edna (Goodrich) Paul. He attended school in Wilton, North Dakota and also Hopkins, Minnesota. Dan enlisted in the Army at an age younger than anyone should be asked, and he proudly served in the Pacific Ocean. After retirement, he continued to work in the same capacity in the private sector.

He is survived by his loving wife Deloris; daughters Patricia (Steven) Garback of Pony, Montana; Kathy (Dan) Drueke of ONeill, NE; Jeanette (Mike) Keter of Colorado Springs, CO; Lori (Scott) Herr of Mount Vernon, WA; a son Danny of Sherman, SD; and a sister Ione (Bill) Danley of Hopkins, MN.
