Daniel W. Sampson “Animal”, age 29, of Miles City, MT passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2014 after courageous battle with a heart condition at his home in Miles City with his family by his side.
Daniel William Sampson was born on February 26, 1985 in Riverside, CA to Daniel and Leverna (Wheaton) Sampson. At the age of five Dan received his first guitar from his dad which started a life-long passion for music. In 1990 the family moved to Mesa, AZ where Dan attended grade school and high school. After school Dan began pursuing his love of music, a love that eventually landed him in Miles City in 2001. In 2004 Dan met his life partner Stephanie Laney together they made their home in Miles City raising two children Keon Laney & Sunny Sampson.
Dan’s true passion in life was his family and his music he loved performing at various events & charities with his band some included Niedge Fest, Trails Inn, performing the National Anthem on the 4th of July at Riverside Park and many others. Most of all he loved spending time with his children, family and friends.
Dan is survived by his father Daniel H. Sampson and girlfriend Kim of Miles City; girlfriend, Stephanie Laney of Miles City; two children, Keon Laney & Sunny Sampson; three sisters, Sarah Sampson of Omaha, NE, Ashly Michaels & Alicia Carroll both of Columbus, IN, and one brother, Mikey Mancini of Anamosa, IA. He was preceded in death by his mother, Leverna “Diane” Wheaton-Sampson; grandparents, Judy & William Sampson; grandmother, Helen Wheaton and his best friend, Vince Rogers.
Family will receive friends Monday, March 3, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Son’s Funeral Home in Miles City. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Son’s. Interment will be held at Custer County Cemetery. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
