Danny F. Rasmussen, age 65 of Miles City, passed away on September 11, 2016, after a long battle with cancer.
Danny was born on June 4, 1951 in Moorhead, MN and soon moved to Nashua MT.
His parents divorced and he moved to Bozeman with his brother, sister, mother and step father. After several years of being subjected to parents of acute alcoholism, he moved to Chinook to live with his father.
At the completion of high school he was drafted in the U.S. Army. After being released with an honorable discharge, he met the love of his life and spent the next 41 years married to his soul mate Kristen Holje.
Danny’s primary work history was in retail, either in the corporate world or later on in private entrepreneurship.
Danny and Kristen were truly blessed with their only child, Daen Scott. She was the center of their worlds with every breath she drew.
Danny leaves behind his two mentors that guided and supported him during the troubled years and were soul mates till the day he died, Jack Cowlishaw of Bozeman and Darry Chapman of Chinook. His aunt and uncle; Sharon and Allen Rasmussen of Fort Ransom, ND, and their four beautiful children; Rita, Wayne, Luke and Jason. My many and dear friends of Miles City that are too numerous to mention here, but to whom I shared much fellowship, love and brotherhood. My darling sister Diane, whom I deeply loved. Holly Holje, my sister-in-law and is an angel on earth. My beautiful daughter Daen and her husband Jeremy and their two beautiful children, Gavin and Vivianne. Danny’s wife who is his guiding light, eternal, unwavering love strength of character and true soul mate.

Kris and family,
I will hold my memories, of all the wonderful conversation with Danny, very close. What a character! I’ll miss his opinions, advice, teasing about being a Redsox fan, the pointing out of what I was doing wrong, and sometimes right, and so much more. I truly admire that he was always true to himself, in spite of what anyone else thought. I’ll miss him.
May God bless you all, and wrap his loving and comforting arms around all of you.
Mike, Lisa and Anthony Miller says
Kris,
We are sorry for your loss. Danny took great care of our grandpa when he was alive. I will truly miss having him come out and offer to help me in my yard, offering to lend me tools, and telling me I work way to hard. God Bless his soul and God Bless you.
Pam & Karl Rogge says

We are so sorry to hear of Danny’s passing and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers through this difficult time. We got to know Danny when he managed Osco Drug in Miles City and he was so much fun, teasing about sports loyalties and always with a smart pun or funny joke. He will be missed. May God be with you.

We wanted to share our condolences with Danny’s family. It is never easy to have to say goodbye to a loved one. The pain of loss can be unbearable. Our Creator promises us that one day this pain will be just a memory. That beautiful promise can be found at Revelation 21:3,4. Our pain and suffering will be a thing of the past, and we can cry tears of joy as we welcome back the ones that we love so much. We hope you find comfort in those promises.
Carol and Warren Schuetzle says
Kris and family,
So sorry for your loss of Dan.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Greg & Juel Harshman says
Juel and I were in Danny’s class in Chinook. I’m glad Mike Gallus, now living in Australia, was able to be with Danny last month. I know Derryl will miss Danny greatly. Our graduating class of ’70 has lost 4 classmates in the last 6 months.
We are very sorry for the entire families loss.
AnneMarie Wallette says
Kris and Daen,
My prayers are with you. I can recall how much I enjoyed Danny as a person and as a coach of softball. He was the best kind of coach to have: fun while organized; encouraging while disciplined; and kind while being a role model. It’s been 20+ years since he was my coach and I can still remember things he taught me. He will be missed.
Rita and Randy Robinson says
