Darlene Russell, 57, of Lame Deer

August 4, 1958 – May 9, 2016

Darlene Russell, 57, Toohe’e (Stubborn Woman) was born on August 4th 1958 to Hubert Russell Sr & Annie Walksnice.  Darlene received her elementary education at Lame Deer then High school at Busby high school in 1974. She then attended job corps in Astoria Oregon then in 76 went to another job corps in Albuquerque New Mexico.  Darlene also attended and took classes at Chief Dull Knife College.  She was a great stay at home mom who loved taking care of her many nieces, nephews, and grand children. She loved to be with family and make cherished memories. Some of her favorite past times consisted of “jamming” to bob Marley and cruising with her loved ones. She was always so full of life and happiness and has such a great sense of humor and loved to tease and reminisce.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents Annie Walksnice and Hubert Russell Sr., Husband Robert Reno Willow, Brother Hubert Russell JR “Fishy” and Daniel Russell, Sisters Magdalene Walksnice and Gertrude Killsnight, Son Gabriel Russell, and daughters Rhea Rose Willow and Denise Russell, grandson- sage Whiteman aunts- Ella and Martha Walksnice, Mae Antelope, Josie Adams, Uncles- Wayne Walksnice Sr., and Gilbert Walksnice.

Darlene is survived by her daughters Maria Florence Russell and Rose Lynn Russell of Lame Deer, Pamela Powell, Jewel Roundstone, Ashley Whistlingelk, Rose Bushhead, Tameka Littleoldman, Her very special grandson Gavin Reno Russell, Sons Brenden Adams, Jonathan Limpy, Bob Whistlingelk, Whitebird Limpy, Randal Killsnight, Jerome Bushhead, John Ray Rowland, Nieces  Candida Rondeau of Spokane WA, Mary Jane Russell, Bunnie Redwoman, Reneka Walksnice, Josie Walksnice, Shasta Adams, Summer Rose Oldman, Maelena Oldman, Nora, Taylor and Jamae Bell, Tiffany Shoulderblade, Leann, Anna and Nadine Weaselbear, Renecia Shoulderblade, Ruth Anne Thunderhawk,  nephews Hubert Russell III, Garret and Picard Wadda, Wallace Oldman Jr., Denise and Jarvis Shoulderblade, Dietrich and Dyron Shoulderblades, Hinest bellymule, Roy and James Todd, Brandy Fightingbear, Roy Fighthingbear III, Theron and Tracy Adams, Wylem Bell, Herman and Elroy Weaselbear, and Alan Joe Blackwolf, Grandchildren Gabriel Russell Jr., Talissa Marie Russell, Rika Meza, Shania Oldhorn, Kanye, Wade, Shakya, Kalli and Molly Russell. Sisters Katherine Russell, Mary Louise Thunder Hawk, Brenda Adams, Jennie M. Shoulderblade, Rita Fay Jefferson, Ethelene Jefferson, Carrie Whiteantelope,  Ramona Bell, Pauline Addison, Linda Adams, Patricia Adams, Pamela Adams, Darcie Adams, Marlene Crazymule, Theresa Crazymule-Wounded eye, Wanda Littlight, Linda Florez, Anita Florez,  Linda Brady, Lenora Wolfname,  Amelia Birdchief, Jeanie Anderson, Rose Robinson, Tiny and Mary Shoulderblade. Brothers  Gerald Walksnice, Lloyd Yellow robe, Woodrow Blackwolf Hank, Rick, and Gary Wolfname, John Mike, Howard, and Joseph Antelope, Willard Crazymule, Wayne and Eddie Walksnice, Pete and Sonny Florez, Aunts- Katherine Foote, Laura and Leah Lonebear, Helen L, Yellow Robe, Limana Redneck, Rita and Johanna Redneck, Erma Spang, “Jo Jo” Sandcrane, Uncle- George Scalpcane,  and sister in laws- Elsie Weaselbear, Susie Medicine Elk. Darlene has many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, here is a list of extended families; Blackwolf, Walksalong, Littlesun, Ridgebear, Lonebear, Yellowfox, Strangeowl, Scalpcane, Shotgun, Norris, Harris, Medicinetop, Nightwalkers, Whitedirt, Underwood. Darlene has a very big family if we missed your name we apologize.

The family would like to thank all the Nurses and Doctors at St. Vincent Hospital for all their wonderful and delicate care they provided to not only to Darlene but to her many family and friends.

Thank you Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home for taking great care of our Mom, aunt, grandma and having patience and consideration towards our family during this delicate time.

    such a sweet lady always stopping a visit for a short bit at Extendend Care Unit of the hospital and always very pleasent to be around ..angels in heaven rejoicing as we remember her ….

    I grew up under the care of her Grandpa and Grandma…relatives are relatives…she and her little family were SPECIAL…especially when we visited TALKING NORTHERN CHEYENNE to each other…gonna miss her and the MEMORIES we shared with each other…
