Buster, age 78, died Thursday, October 28 2004, at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital of heart complications.
David Penile Barnett was born February 18, 1926, the son of Lee and Ola (Parham) Barnett in Hatfield, Arkansas. Buster was raised and educated in Hatfield. On April 5, 1944, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged on February 3, 1949. On February 25, 1950 Buster married Edna Abbott in Waldron, Arkansas. The couple made there home in Mena, Arkansas until 1960 when they moved to Sterling Colorado. In Sterling, he began his career in the oilfield. In 1963, Buster and his family moved to Gillette. Here, Buster worked in the oilfields as a driller. In 1973, Buster was forced to retire due to an accident that cost him his left arm. From that time on, he became a source of support for his family in many ways from becoming a caretaker for his family when they were in bad health to making sure his grandchildren got to school on time.
Buster spent a lot of time fishing; his favorite pastime along with loving his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed fox hunting and metal detecting.
Buster is survived by his wife, Edna of Gillette, Wyoming; one daughter, Darlene (Rick) Warner; two grandsons: David (Kate) and Shane Warner; one granddaughter, Penny Warner; one great granddaughter, Maddison Warner all of Gillette, Wyoming; four sisters: Mary Jo Rodgers of Texarkana, Texas; Irma Shaw of Tyler, Texas; Linda Lance of Mena, Arkansas; Anita Belt of Texarkana, Texas; and one brother, Wayne Barnett of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
