David Hoffman, age 75, of Gillette, Wyoming, died Sunday, January 25, 2004 at the Campbell County Memorial Hospital in Gillette, Wyoming.
David Lewis Hoffman was born February 6, 1928 the son of Florence (Lundgren) and Lewis Hoffman in Bowbells, North Dakota. He was educated in Kenmare, North Dakota. David enlisted in the U.S. Navy on January 11, 1946 and served on the USS Antietam in the Pacific theatre during WWII. David received a victory medal. He was honorably discharged November 18, 1947. After the service, he resided in the Philippines when the country was liberated and returned to celebrate their first year of independence. He then traveled extensively and lived in many countries that he visited while in the service. David met Maria Kary in Almont, North Dakota. They were married on April 20, 1964 in Hopkins, Minnesota. The couple moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where they made their home in 1967.
David was a member of the Eagles, and the Moose Lodge. He had a lifetime fishing license for living in Wyoming for thirty years. David volunteered as a campground host for the Wyoming State Parks and Recreation at Keyhole for twelve years, while residing and working there during the summers he spent his free time fishing, golfing, visiting, and playing cards.
David is survived by his wife, Maria Mary Hoffman; one daughter, Deirdre and husband Dennis Brown; three grandchildren: Allen Brown, age 18; MacKenzie Brown, age 15; and Ethan Brown, age 13 all of Gillette, Wyoming, three brothers and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
