David Karl Krueger, loving husband, devoted father, son, brother and faithful friend entered into the great Makin Place on Saturday, November 21, 2009 in the shadow of the mountains he loved.
Born and raised on Shane Forks Ranch south of Columbus, it was there he learned his respect for the land, its wildlife and the family livestock, developing the work ethic that served him so well the rest of his life. David was the youngest child of Jack and Mary (Heily) Krueger. He attended school in Columbus, graduating in 1974, and went on to attend Eastern Montana College. In 1978 he married Ann Davis. To them were born Kesley Dawn and Kaleb David. After their divorce he returned to Columbus and met and married his true life partner and friend, Angela Schweigel. David had a colorful and productive career. He sold and delivered ice cream for Wilcoxsons, adult beverages for Dunham Distributing, and dairy products for Darigold. He was a long-time Area Manager for Holiday Stores before becoming a successful independent businessman, owning / operating World Imports in West Park Plaza and, finally, Krueger Oil in Columbus.
His life is best described as an adventure. In no particular order he loved: Exploring, travel, camping, hunting, fishing, hiking, packing, pinochle, pitch, poker, cribbage, hearts, crossword, pickup basketball, 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, bowling, golf, floating and Wii. All were to be entered into completely often with reckless abandon, always to win. David could be counted on when called, regardless of the task. His character was defined by pride in a job well done, fierce loyalty, quick wit, the courage of his convictions, a wry smile, and the twinkle in his eye.
David was preceded in death by his sister Karen Cox.
He is survived by his wife, Angela, his daughter Kesley (Donnie) and grandchildren Everson and Nevaeh Wetzel, his son Kaleb and granddaughter Kali. In addition he leaves his parents Jack and Mary of the family ranch, brother-in-law Phil Cox of Billings, brother Jack Jr. (Kim) of Columbus, and brother Paul (Carol) of Miles City. Nieces and nephews include; Andrea (Nick) Christen, Jared Cox, Kegan (Michelle) Krueger, April Peterson, Kari (Fred) Cline, Katie (Max) Moriarty and Kasey Krueger. His godchildren are Ben, Olivia, and Matt Seibert. Finally, he leaves behind a small number of true and enduring friendships.
