David Red DoorI-TOMA-GA-ZA Rain in FaceWhen David L. Reddoor was called to his eternal home on the 19th of June 2007 he was in his sixty seventh year.
He was giver of the name I-TOMA-GA-ZA Rain in Face by his father for on the day he was born to David L. Bearfighter Reddoor Sr. and Mabel G. Shields on the journey home to Chelsea from Poplar by the spoken word of our Lord God the elements of nature rained in his face.He was the descendant of formidable warrior chiefs as his Great Grandfather Chief Bear Runs Growling Mato Hlo Iyanka AKA Elijah Reddoor came from a family of well known warrior chiefs, and war the half brother and or 1st cousin to Rain in Face, Gall, Running Antelope, Sitting Bull, Spotted Elk, Crow King, He Dog and Hawk Bear.
After the death of his mother he earned his GED and enlisted in the US Army at 18 years and served Dec. 31, 1958 to March 1 1962, his 1st tour of duty and basic was at Ft. Jackson SC, Korea for 1 year, then Ft. Lewis WA. finishing tour in Brambery Germany from August 1961 to March 1962. He graduated from the Coyne Electronic institute in Chicago, Illinois on the 27th day of September 1963.
In his 2nd tour of duty; February 23, 1966 to February 16, 1969 4th Infantry Division Artillery, HHS Btry; 5th Bn, 16 Artillery 4th infantry division at Ft. Lewis WA. which went to Vietnam from August 1966 to August 1967, finishing tour in Okinawa. The 4th Infantry Division had the task of stopping the flow of supplies from North Vietnam to the enemy in the south. David was honorably discharged on February 16, 1969 and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Ribbon with device 1960, and Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar and was authorized the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation.
Surviving him are his only living sister; Abigail Yvonne Reddoor, and her children; Lanette Pribbernow and Gina Bearfighter, his nieces; Debra (Manuel) Running Bear, Lisa Mushtag, Julienne Fasthorse, Cheryl Scott Reddoor, nephews: Robert E. Binder, David Binder, Alan Fasthorse, Timothy D. Reddoor, Ike Follows the Road- Brewster, Patricia Bird, Robert Bird, David Bird , Ronnie Ricker, and his first cousins; Arlene Benson, Ray White Tail Feather, Edwin Reddoor, Edna Strauser, Caleb Shields, Julian Shields Jr., June Stafne, Sharon Shields, Rosanne Shields, Shirley Redstone, Diane Martin, Buff Birthmark, Sandra Birthmark, EJ Reddoor, Donna Mae Murray, Lois Beauchman, Shirley Moran, Linda Shields, Mervin Shields, Melinda Shields, Debra Shields, Kenneth Smoker Sr., Vera Roberts Ironman, Donna (Johnson) Big Leggins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandparents; Basil M. BearFighter Reddoor and Blanche R. Melbourne, Andrew Shields, Florence Lambert, sisters; Irma Reddoor, Mildred L. Reddoor, Mary Mabel Reddoor, brothers; Timothy H. Reddoor, Gabriel A. Reddoor and nephew Eugene T. Ryan Jr. and his foster parents; Lewis and Loretta Boyd of Brockton, MT.
He was a humble man of intelligent design with numerous accomplishments throughout his life pursuing knowledge in several subject matters, astronomy, electronics, computer technology the mysteries of God and many more, and earned degrees or certificates in Astrology, computer technology, and electronics. On different occasions throughout his life he served as an elder for the Dakota Presbytery Church in Fort Kipp, and Poplar and campaigned to reopen Mnisda Church in Chelsea. He was a member of the Post 55 American Legion Club and other Veteran Chapters throughout the US. He graduated from FPCC Poplar and spent much time there. He journeyed to several places in his life and lived in San Jose, Santa Ana, CA., Portland, Salem and Tigard Oregon, Albq, NM, Chicago, IL and New York City, the last place of his residence was Tigard, OR. We prize the high regard in which he was held by his associates, peers and family, He will be deeply missed.
A prayer service will be held Monday, June 25, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Poplar, MT., Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 26, 2007 at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Poplar. Interment will be at the Chelsea Cemetery in Poplar. Rev. Ray White Tail Feather officiating.
