David John Polley died on June 23, 2017. David was born January 8, 1943, to Herbert and Irma Polley. Born and raised in Forsyth, David graduated from Forsyth High School in 1960 and then attended Concordia Lutheran College in Minnesota. He served in the Army until returning to college at Montana State University in 1969.
A die-hard Chicago Cubs fan, David traveled to Wrigley Field with his daughter Amy and later was able to visit Spring Training Camp in Arizona to see his beloved Cubbies play. Sadly due to declining health, he was unaware that the Cubs finally won the 2017 World Series. Over the years he enjoyed many camping and fishing trips with family and friends.
David was employed in various jobs, primarily in bookkeeping. He was elected as Rosebud County Justice of the Peace serving for 20 years and retiring in 1998.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Gloria; his daughter, Amy (Rich) Cathey; two grandsons, Derek and Ivan; sisters, Dorthea (Gary) Jacobs and Ellen Carpenter; father in law, Felix (Marie) Rangel; brother in law, Ben Rangel; sister in laws, Norma (Bob) Wegmann and Connie (Bart) Kraus; and several nieces and nephews.

Gloria, so sorry to hear of David’s passing, may he now be with comforting hands and in peace. I enjoyed working with Dave over the years at the Courthouse and remember my first meeting him when I was about 15 while working for my parents at the City Café (now speedway), he and a few friends would always come have an early morning breakfast. It was an entertaining experience for me at that time and little did I know there would ever be a professional working relationship for 20 years, as well as our personal friendship with you and Dave. Zeke and I will truly miss that smile.

My memories are those from my mother Clara Barley who befriended a fellow teacher Irma Polley and family living near Carterville! Often wondered what happened to them. I was told David taught himself to read by age 4. Amazing family! Peace to the family. My condolences.
