Dean Douglas Spotted Eagle (Mo’ohtaevaotseva) blacktail deer, left us on December 22, 2015 at the age of 67 years old.
Dean was born January 27, 1948 to Daniel Magpie and Grace Divesbackwards. Dean was raised by his grandparents Rufus and Nancy Divesbackwards, north of Lame Deer.
He went to elementary school at Lame Deer Public school and graduated at Busby high school at Busby, MT.
He join the Army in November 11, 1966 to May 14, 1968, during the Vietnam conflict. He was wounded in action.
Dean went on to Salish Kootenai College where he got his two Bachelor degrees one in Human Services and the other in Chemical Dependency.
He was a former Scared Hat Keeper for the Northern Cheyenne Tribe and a Sundance Priest, Eagle Dancer and faster. A member of the Bow String Society.
Dean was preceded in death by his grandparents Rufus and Nancy Divesbackwards, mother Grace Divesbackwards, father Daniel Magpie, daughter Andrea Fisher Bighawk, daughter Anabelle Spotted Eagle, daughter Melissa Locher.
Dean is survived by his wife, Nikki Spotted Eagle. His sister Rosella (James) Mann, brothers, George Magpie, Sam Divesbackwards, Phillip Big Hawk, Edwin Whiteman and Daniel Magpie. His sons, Dean Spotted Eagle Jr. and Dean Bullit Spotted Eagle. His step-son, Kyle Steger. His daughers, Kristina Quaempts, Diane Goss and Deana Spotted Eagle. His nieces, Malena Magpie, Nancy ( Earnest) Littlebird, Kristen Pongah, Verda (Raymond) King, Darlene (Manford) Soldierwolf, Evalee, Stella Wallowng, Pauline Wallowing, Laverna Mae Wallowing, Jenny Killsontop, Aliene Killsontop, Donna Rowland, Arlena Songer, Sammie Rose Big Hawk, Rhea and Kim Wallowingbull and Jackie Tang. His nephews, James, Bob, Quanah and Santee Magpie, Fred Mann, Darren Bixby, Dwayne, Richard, Douglas Bixby, Elvin Pongah Jr,. Troy Killsontop, Sam, Andrew Swift Cloud, Isiah and Cheyenne Big Hawk. His grandchildren whom he was raising, Dean, Kya, Kyla and Kylia Spotted Eagle. He was blessed with many grandchildren, who are too numerous to mention.
Relatives, Bigbacks, Blackwolfs, Shoulderblades, Siouxs, Bearchums, Bighawks, relatives in Souix country and Oklahoma in Cheyenne Country.
Brothers in the Bow Strings, Crazy Dogs, Elk Horn Scrapers, Dog Soldiers, Swift Fox and Chief Societies. His bothers in Arms in the Northern Cheyenne Chapter of Vietnam era veterans.
