Debra Jeanne Steiger was born on November 5, 1952 the daughter of Kenneth M. and Maxine L. (Vesely) Steiger in Winner, South Dakota. As a toddler her family moved to Rapid City, where she attended grade school. Moving to Hot Springs, South Dakota she attended Jr. High and High School there, Graduating in 1971. Deb began her first year of college in Brookings, South Dakota. She completed her Bachelors at Black Hills State University in Spearfish. Upon her graduation Deb traveled with her Aunt Toni (who was more like a sister). Backpacking, hiking and living on the beaches through out the country created some great memories and stories for Deb to tell. After a few years of leading this free spirited life style she finally settled down in Gillette, Wyoming. Deb married Roger Bruse in 1987. From this union came Debs greatest joy, Christopher who was born in the fall of 1988. The couple divorced in 1999. Debra worked for the Campbell County Public Library for just over twenty years. Managing the audio visual department for over ten years and as the Childrens Librarian for the past six, Debra will be greatly missed by not only her co-workers but also the public she served. Deb loved watching her son flat track motorcycle race and their time spent together. She enjoyed her twin nephews who brought much fun into her life. Always taking time to travel each year whether to the Black Hills or Seattle with friends and family she enjoyed the company and the experience. One of her most memorable trips was that of one with Toni to England a few years back.
Debra is survived by her son Christopher of Gillette; mother Maxine Mickey Steiger; brother, Rock Steiger and Brenda and their twin sons Dalton and Tanner all of Sturgis, S.D.; four aunts: Clione Toni Vesely of Glendale, CA, Marilyn Vesely of riverside CA, Bonnie Wann of Riverside, CA, and LaVerne Steiger of Winner, S.D.; one uncle, Donald Vesely of Los Angeles, CA and six cousins.
