Funeral Service: will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Interment: will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
Del Grey Carey, age 83, ofVolborg, Montana passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at the Holy Rosary Extended Care in Miles City.
Del was born in Miles City, Montana on November 20, 1924, the son of Ira and Bessie (Trainer) Carey. He was raised on the family homestead in Volborg and attended country school in Volborg, graduating from Custer County High School in 1942. Following his schooling he returned to the family ranch. His father passed away when he was 17 and he remained on the ranch. Del married Bernice Carter on November 20, 1947 in Miles City and they made their home on the family ranch. Del loved hunting, fishing, playing cards, reading and dancing at country dances. He served on the school board for over 30 years, A.S.C.S. Board for over 20 years, and also a member of the Elks, Stockgrowers and the Range Riders.
Del is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bernice Carey of Volborg, MT; a son, Ira (Marci) Carey of El Cajon, CA; five daughters: Karen (Marvin) Wallace of Terry, MT; Colleen (Tom) Hoff of Broken Bow, NE; Patsy (John) Donnelly ofVolborg, MT; Julie (Doug) Post of Baker, MT; Frances (Don) Veseth of Columbus, NE; his mother-in-law, Margaret Carter of Miles City, MT; a brother, Randall (Ginger) Carey of Bothell, WA; four sisters: Irene Gresens of Miles City, MT; Helen Jone's of Miles City, MT; Betty (Bob) Barthelmess of Miles City, MT; and Peg (Herb) Barrett of Entiat, WA; sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-father, NewtonHollowell, his father-in-law, Frank Carter and two brothers-in-law: Charles Jone's and Neil Gresens.
Family will received friends on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City, MT. Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
