Dennis Blaine “DK” Killsnight, age 29, of Lame Deer was called to the other camp on September 13, 2021. He was born on June 9, 1992 to Nadine Killsnight and Joe Costilla Sr. Dennis was raised by his grandmother, Hazel Killsnight. Dennis comes from the Chief’s family.
Dennis had 12 siblings: Andrew, Darren Jr., Devin, Darian, Darica, Durran, Jessica, Juan, Janae, Johanna, Jeneva (Lyn Bob). He had four children: Melissa, Dominic, Semaj, and Miguel Quiroz, who he gifted to his brother, Andrew. His special companion was Lynette American Horse.
Dennis was born and raised on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. This is where his heart was. Growing up, he loved riding horses and participated in the Annual Little Big Horn Ride. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandma, Hazel Killsnight. He was very much a grandma’s boy. Hazel taught him the Cheyenne values of respect.
Dennis attended and graduated from Lame Deer High School in 2010. He excelled in high school sports: football, basketball, and golf. (made it to state) He also enjoyed playing softball. He was an all around athlete.
Dennis’ passion was the outdoors, hunting elk or deer; providing for his family. He also would go out getting wood. Dennis loved his kids, always had a lot of friends and family that he looked after. He would always take somebody in and help them in anyway he could.
Dennis is survived by his mom, Nadine Killsnight; siblings, Andrew, (Vanna), Devin, Darren Jr., Dezirae, Darian, Darica, Durran (Whitney), Jessica, Juan, Janae, Johanna, Jeneva (Lyn Bob); children, Semaj, Dominic, Melissa, and Miguel Quiroz; grandpa, Roger Killsnight; cousin brothers: Delane, Kiemo and Eli Lopez, Lupe, Julian, Eric Jr, late MJ Killsnight, Marvin Jr., Jehan, Isaiah, Jaydell, Zachariah, Sheila Shay Sheep, Maria Killsnight; special friends: Lloyd Lone Elk, Armondo (Gar) Rosas, Cameron Russell, Baby Son Russell, Roselyn Russell, Ainhus Red Fox, Joe Simpson, Preston Woodenthigh, Cameron Fasthorse, Eddie Brien, Shay Don’t Mix, late James Whiteman; uncles, Eric Killsnight Sr., Marvin (Gizzard) Killsnight, Reginald Sr., Lucas Killsnight, Phillip Whiteman Sr.; Aunts, Event Killsnight, Rennie Whiteman, Florene Whiteman, Jamie Whiteman; in laws, Melissa and Wendell Lefthand, Lyn American Horse Sr., Rayetta, Bernadette, Lyn Bob; extended families, Killsnights, Whiteman, Costillas, Bearquiver, Ridgebear, Fisher, Medicine Elk, Wolfblack, Lightning, Seminoles, Spotted Elks, Wolfname, Whitedirt, and Whitewolf.
We would like to thank Lame Deer ER, Lame Deer Ambulance Service, St. Vincent’s life flight, St. Vincent’s hospital Staff for the care of Dennis during this critical time.
