Dennis Nelson

Memorial Service: 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point, MT

Inurnment: will take place at a later date.

Dennis Nelson, age 82, of Wolf Point, MT passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2011 at the Faith Lutheran Home in Wolf Point.

Dennis, the fourth of six children, was born March 18, 1928, to Emil and Amanda Nelson in Roosevelt County. He attended Pershing Country School, graduating in 1946 from Wolf Point High School. While attending Wolf Point High School, Dennis met his wife and life companion, Donna Evans. To this union four children were born: Leslie, Patricia, Brian, and Kathy. He lived at the old Sherman Hotel while working at the old feed plant during the week; and returned home on the weekends to help at the farm. Dennis purchased the homestead and farmed and ranched with his son, Brian until his retirement in 1996. He sold the homestead to his grandson, Ben, the fifth generation. Dennis was a member of the First Lutheran Church, serving on the church board for many years. He was actively involved in his community including: an officer on the Board of Directors for Farmers Union Oil, member of the Roosevelt County Planning Board, member and supporter of NFO, supporter of Yellowstone Boys Ranch, and raising funds to build Frontier School. Dennis was also a 25 year member of A.A.

Dennis is preceded in death by brothers, Don, Alan, and Roland; sister, Violet; wife, Donna; son, Leslie; daughter, Patricia; and granddaughter, Krystle Dawn.Dennis was a very giving person, helping friends and family, lending money, labor, machinery or whatever it took to help out.

He is survived by his son, Brian (JoAnn) Nelson of Wolf Point; daughter, Kathy Nelson of Minot, ND; sister, Gladys Jensen of Kalispell; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, January 8, at the First Lutheran Church in Wolf Point. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be held at a later date.

If friends desire, memorials may be made to the Yellowstone Boys & Girls Ranch or the First Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to the family atwww.stevensonandsons.com. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Wolf Point has been entrusted with the arrangements.
