Dick Duane Renken, age 87, of Vida, MT passed away on April 12, 2019 at the McCone County Health Center in Circle, MT
Dick was born on July 13, 1931 the son of Dick and Hannah Renken in Freida, ND. Dick grew up and attended country schools until the 8th grade before his father needed his help on the family farm. When Dick turned 18 years old he joined the Army Airforce where he served for two years during the Korean War. It was during this time he met Virginia Grace Haggard and married her in Atlanta, Georgia. Upon his honorable discharge Dick and Virginia began their family and had four children Michael, Bruce, Danny and Kim. Dick began working as a mechanic and at a young age moved his family to Glasgow, MT where he worked for Newton Motors and various other places. He eventually moved to Billings, MT where he began working for Peterbilt until the time of his retirement. He eventually wanted to get back to the Vida area where him and Virginia have made their home
Dick was an avid hunter and fisher, and also enjoyed listening to country music.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Virginia; three sons, Bruce (Jenny) Renken, Danny (Sandy) Renken both of North Carolina, Kim (Brenda) Renken of Iowa; five grandchildren, Tammy, Bubba, Alvin, Ryan & Tyler and two great grandchildren, Colby and Caden. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael; his parents, Dick and Hannah and twelve brothers and sisters.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2019 at 11:00 (CST) at the Saint John’s Cemetery in Mandan, ND with full military honors. Condolences can be made to the family by visiting stevensonandsons.com.
