Dixie Lou Holenbeck of Colstrip, MT passed away June 22nd 2013. She was 69 years old.
Mom was born June, 17th in Cody, Wyoming to Clarence and Alice Nay and as the youngest of four and she understood that her brother and sisters were there to serve and entertain her.
She attended Powell High School but met the man of her dreams and traded her graduation gown in for a wedding gown and married James “Jim” Holenbeck on November 11th 1961.
As they moved from town to town following road construction jobs, her family grew and now it became her job to serve and entertain. Times were tough and sometimes we had nothing, but she made sure we didn’t go without. The four of us always felt spoiled and never knew how tough it was.
After they moved the family to Colstrip, MT. Dad settled into his steady work at the mine and Mom started working at Colstrip High School. She fit right in and loved working with all of the students and teachers. They soon became part of her family too, for her to serve and entertain.
Every weekend was usually spent chasing us around the state, sitting in the stands and cheering for us as we played in various sports. You couldn’t ask for a better cheerleader. When we graduated she soon became busy again chasing after her grand kids in all of their activities. Nothing made us more proud than seeing her up there in the stands smiling down at us with pride beaming from her eyes.
We will miss so much, Mom but knowing that you are up there smiling down at us will make it a little easier to get through each day.
Dixie is survived by her children Mike Holenbeck of Colstrip, MT, Kenny Holenbeck of Colstrip, MT, Jerry (Pam) Holenbeck of Idaho Falls, ID, Krista Hazel of Colstrip, MT, Grandchildren – Stephanie Owens, Steven Owens, Jamie Holenbeck, Aaron Gott, Tell Holenbeck, Tyler Holenbeck, Trent Holenbeck, Mason Hazel and Dillon Hazel, Sister Dorthy (Benny) Yates, In-laws Hal Holenbeck, Alta Mae (Jim) Meunier, nephews, nieces – Tessa, Matt, Stephanie, Brook, Debbie, Donna, Darlene and Dana.
Dixie is preceded in death by her parents: Clarence and Alice Nay, Husband James D. Holenbeck

Dear Family and Friends of Dixie Lou Holenbeck- My sincere condolences to your family. It is obvious according to the information listed above about Mrs. Holenbeck that she was loved and her life touched many people. Her life was also valued by the Creator who had recorded in the Bible book of Hebrews that He does not forget all of the love and fine works shown by his servants (Heb 6:10). It was not God’s purpose that mankind suffer and die. At creation God was able to say that everything was “very good” (Gen 1:31) Death was introduced through Adam’s disobedience (Genesis 2:17). Jesus’ sacrifice of his human life on earth again gave us hope of everlasting life. Hopefully, faith in these Bible promises will ease the pain from this loss as you look forward to seeing Mrs. Holenbeck again under perfect Paradise conditions as originally purposed for mankind in the Garden of Eden. . Please continue to take in Bible knowledge which gives us comfort and hope (John 17:3).
