Donald “Don” Albert Lekse passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2023 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT at the age of 84. Don was born December 24, 1938 in Roundup, MT, the last of seven children to Adolphina Vene Lekse and Anton Lekse.
Don graduated from RHS and joined the Army for a three-year commitment. After an honorable discharge he worked in Washington for a short time, returned to Roundup, and eventually went to work in the oil fields. Don then became an employee of the Milwaukee Railroad, Burlington Northern Railroad and BNSF Railroad for 37 years as a Signal Maintainer, retiring in 2000.
Don married Ruth Natzel on August 20, 1963 in Pierre, SD. They resided in Terry, MT all but one year, when they lived in Harlowton, MT. They were married for 59 years.
Don is survived by his sons, Keith (Lynn Hall) of Spokane, WA and Dennis of Terry, one brother Tony (Margaret) of Roundup, MT, one sister Anna Cross of Coralville, IA, one granddaughter Danielle (Thomas) Hood of Spokane, WA, and four great grandchildren; Dakota James, Harley Cheyenne, and twins Markus and Maria, all of Spokane.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Frank and Richard and sisters Louise Eide and Thelma Hanley.
A memorial service with full Military Honors will be held in Terry, MT on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry, MT. Following the service there will be a luncheon at the Legion. Everyone is invited.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Don’s honor to the charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be made to the family at www.stevensonandsons.com.
