Donald E. Donohew passed away on August 8, 2014 in Holy Rosary Extended Care Nursing Home in Miles City, MT.
Donald was born on October 8, 1939 in Jackson County, West Virginia to Charlie Ray and Mona (King) Donohew. Don grew up in West Virginia and attended school in Ripley. He attended two years of high school when he lost his father and had to quit school and go to work. He milked several cows and worked different odd jobs to support his mother and younger brother, Albert Wayne. He moved to Arlington, Virginia in the early 70’s and worked in tunnel construction for the subway system in Washington DC. Don met Ione as his work crew ate lunches at the cafeteria where Ione was employed. They were wed on April 22, 1972. They remained in the area moving to Richmond, Virginia and Woodbridge, Virginia while continuing with the tunnel construction companies. In 1977, Don and Ione came out west, moving to Powell, WY. Don worked for Miller Feedlot of Powell for many years. Don then moved to the sheetrock plant in Cody, Wy and worked there until he retired. Don and Ione moved in with Ione’s mother, Vera Archer, at the ranch at Olive, MT in 2002. Don did a few odd jobs and worked on a fencing crew. Don loved to garden and care for his yard. Mowing was a favorite of his. He dug up a couple small pine trees and took them to his Powell, WY home where they grew into big beautiful pine trees.
Don was a hardworking man but enjoyed working. He liked to be busy and would always lend a hand to anyone. He wasn’t afraid to learn how to do something new. He enjoyed listening to music and playing games especially I Doubt It, Merry Widow and Yahtzee. Don thoroughly enjoyed having his nieces and nephews around him. He loved watching them play or would join in a game with them. They all brought much joy to him. Not very often would you see Don without Ione. He was a very faithful man to his wife of 42 years. Don was a member of the Eagles and an active member of the Methodist Church while in Powell, WY. With some health issues, Don and Ione moved into Holy Rosary Extended Care Nursing Home in 2011. He thought he should help out around there with their yard, so they asked him if he would like to water the many planters they had. Well, no, he thought he should mow! Don was happy as long as he had his wife by his side.
Don is survived by his wife, Ione, his brother, Albert Wayne (DeeDee) of Ripley, WV, two brother-in-laws, Walter ( ArLynn) and Gordon (Deb), and sister-in-law, Elaine (Ed) all of Olive, MT. Don also leaves behind ten nieces and nephews.

My sincere condolences to the family Donald E. Donohew. It was not the Creator’s purpose for mankind to suffer (Romans 5:12). May the Creator give you peace through his promise to comfort us (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). Cherish all your happy memories and I hope that you are consoled by Bible promises of a hopeful future (John 17:3).
