Donald Larson, age 93, of Miles City

April 19, 1925 – February 22, 2019

Donald G. Larson, age 93, passed away with his family by his side on February 22, 2019 at Holy Rosary Health Center.

Donald was born on April 19, 1925 in Billings, Montana to Guy and Beatrice (Smith) Larson. He attended schools in Billings and graduated from Senior High in 1943.   Following graduation, he was inducted into the military serving in the Army Air Corp.  He was stationed in Guam with the 20th Air Force for 18 months and was honorably discharged in 1946.  In August of 1947, he married Agnes Spithoven.

Donald worked at the Appliance Mart from 1946-1949 and Empire Motors from 1949-1956. In September of 1956, he went to work for the Billings Fire Department; retiring as a Battalion Chief in 1985 with 29 years of service.   Following his retirement, he and Agnes toured all 48 States with their Motor Home.  In 2004, they moved from Billings to Miles City and bought a home across the street from their daughter, Bette.  In 2013 they moved together into the Friendship Villa.

Donald is survived by his best friend and wife Agnes, daughter Bette (David) Jewell of Miles City, son Bill Larson of Red Lodge, MT, three Grandchildren: Jinger (Christian) Wirz of Bozeman, Nathan (Blake) Jewell of Miles City, and Amanda (Jason) Glasgow of Bellevue, WA, and two Great Granddaughters: Onikah and Kameah.  He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Diann Larson.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home.  A reception will be held at the Parlor directly following the service.  A private burial will be at the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery with Military Honors.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Grace Bible Church.

    I’m sorry to have read about the loss of your dear loved one. May you find comfort from God’s word at Revelation 21:4 where He promises that “he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more”. He also promises that we will see our dear loved ones again. (Acts 24:15) May the God of comfort and peace be with the Larson family during this difficult time

    You are all in my thoughts and prayers! Don was one of the kindest most soft spoken gentleman I ever had the privilege to know! His love and pride for his wife, Agnes, and his family was truly genuine and unfailing! I know he will be deeply missed by you all! We know that he is in no longer in poor health and pain and that he has now gone to our heavenly place to wait until his loved ones are once again together with him. This promise gives us peace and hope! May that peace that surpasses all our understanding be with you all in the days, weeks, and time to come! I love you all and call your family my family!!
