Donald Muri, age 73, of Miles City passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Billings Clinic.
Don was born in Forsyth, Montana on November 29, 1946, the son of Bob and Jean (Lockie) Muri. He grew up in Miles City where he attended school, graduating from Custer County District High School in 1965. He then attended Miles Community College for a year before transferring to Montana State University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Accounting. Following college, he returned to Miles City where he worked for the VA Hospital in the accounting department for a few years. In 1970, he met the love of his life & best friend Del Wolfe while dragging main street. They were married on December 27, 1970 in Miles City. Don’s true love was ranching and together they bought and sold different ranches over the years. He was under immense pressure from Del, “The Boss”, to buy the home place on Valley Drive East where they have lived most of their married life.
Don loved to go fishing. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved baseball and enjoyed watching the Yankees during the annual summer baseball trips with Don Youngbauer. He also loved watching the Montana State Bobcats play. Don also enjoyed watching the stock market and Fox News daily and having coffee with his coffee clan. Don’s most treasured times were times spent with his grandkids touring the latest improvements on the place.
Don is survived by his wife LaDell; two daughters: Jodi (Josh) Woosley and their sons Lane (Tayl’r) and Trever; and Lori (Rod Stein) Torstenbo and her sons Shyler and Conner all of Miles City; a brother Rob Muri of Miles City; a sister Lonnie Ross of Seattle, WA; and one of his best friends Shawn Torstenbo of Miles City. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Jean Muri, a sister-in-law Glenda Gaye Muri and a great nephew Orin Muri.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.

To all the Muri families, This is such a difficult time and our hearts go out to you. Donnie was a classmate in high school and a valued friend. I will never forget a wedding I attended in the 90’s at the Methodist Church, when I walked into the dining room and saw the Muri men lined up in a row dressed in black tuxedos. That was an impressive sight and every one was as handsome as the next. But what I will always remember most is how bright and funny Donnie was with a ready smile and an offer to lend a hand if you needed it. Prayers for the Muri family. God bless.

Heartfelt condolences from us on Don’s passing. We played some ball, did some bowling, and socialized a lot in years past. Our kids were classmates. Then, we also had a professional association for many years. Don always had things figured out and a plan, although this wasn’t one of them. We worked through quite a few what ifs. I very much appreciated his loyalty but especially his friendship. He will be missed. Best wishes to all.
