Donald O. Schott, age 88, of Miles City passed away on December 1, 2010.
Don was born on June 14, 1922 in Ferney, SD to Gertrude and George Schott. They moved to Terry, MT when he was very young. He attended twelve years of school there and graduated from Terry High School in 1940. During World War II, he was unable to serve in the armed forces due to a genetic heart defect, so he went to Seattle to work in a factory making items for the war effort.
Don returned to Montana in 1950, to support his mother during his fathers final illness. He and Ruth Trzcinski were married on July 26, 1952. Don was a Blue Cross/Blue Shield representative and later worked for Deluxe Motors for more than twenty years. After a short retirement, he was elected to the office of Justice of the Peace for Custer County, serving 4 terms. Don was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Yellowstone Lodge #26 and a 50+ year member of the First Presbyterian Church of Miles City.
In addition to his wife Ruth, he is survived by four children; Chuck (Tracy) of Billings, MT, Lori Campbell of Dickinson, ND, Don (Julie) of Colorado Springs, CO, David (Bonnie) of Redmond, WA and eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and a brother, George (Myrna) of Billings, MT.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Beverly Callaghan, Dody Hauter, and Wini Haug.
He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
