In Memory Of

Donna Kapptie

Services: Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Anthony Church in Laurel, MT.

Donna L. Kapptie was born August 10, 1937 in Fargo, ND to Frank and Goldie Schmaing.

In June, 1943, the family moved to Billings, MT. Donna graduated from Billings Senior High School in 1955. After graduation, she attended Billings Business College where she received a degree in Accounting. In 1957, she started her career at Lambs Inc. This is where she met her partner of 46 years, Ralph Kapptie, and to this union three children were born. Ralph soon got a job working construction so; Donna would pack up the kids and take them from town to town. In 1972, they moved to the small town of Colstrip, MT which they called home for the next 32 years. While in Colstrip, Donna worked for Oftedal Construction, Bechtel Corporation, and Montana Power. She retired from Montana Power in 2000.Donna enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family. She never missed a sporting activity if she could help it and she especially loved watching her grandsons play baseball, football, and basketballIn 2005, after the death of her husband Ralph, Donna embarked on a new adventure that would lead her back to Billings. She moved to Vintage Suites where she made many new friends. She loved to Wii Bowl and other activities.

In 2010, Donna had another adventure which she couldn't overcome. Her health was failing. In March of 2011, she moved into Eagle Cliff Manor. On May 8, 2011, the Lord decided that Donna had had enough and took her to be with her heavenly family.

Donna is preceded in death by her husband Ralph; daughter Lennie; parents Frank and Goldie Schmaing; brothers Frank (Sonny), Doug, Don, Jerry, and Gary Schmaing, and Bill Tronson.

She is survived by son Jay (Carla); daughter Frankie; son-in-law Rusty Dowden; grandsons Donnie (Misty) Dowden, Billy (Jamie) Dowden, Shayn Kapptie, Curt Kapptie; and a granddaughter Becky. She had four wonderful great grandkids - RaeLee Dowden, Dallas Dowden, Leighton Dowden, Beth, and a soon-to-be baby boy born to Donnie and Misty. She is also survived by her big sisters - Gloria Aman and Carole (Marvin) Mathison and a special sister-in-law Bess Schmaing, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.

Services will be on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at 11:00am at St. Anthony Church in Laurel, MT.

The family of Donna Kapptie wishes to thank Billings Clinic for all there help and care given to Donna during her stays. Dr. Jose Ortiz Colstrip Clinic, St. Johns Rehab Cottage, Advance Care Hospital, Eagle Cliff Manor and Riverside Hospice services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Colstrip EMTs C/O EnerGComm Federal Credit Union in Colstrip, MT or to a charity of your choice.
