Donna L. Kennedy, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away on January 16, 2022. Donna was born to Michael and Carolyn (Prop) McGrath on December 2, 1937, in Butte, MT.
Donna grew up in Butte, active in sports and loved volleyball. Donna was the oldest of four children.
She met and married her life partner Michael (Mick) Kennedy in Butte. Together they had four children: Dan, Mike, Chris, and Connie Jo. She started out her married life being a housewife and mother.
They lived in Pinedale, Wyoming where mick was a teacher. Then the family came back to Montana and lived in Twin Bridges. In the mid 60’s they moved to Ashland, Montana, where Donna worked as a teacher for St. Labre Indian School.
In 1978 Donna and Mick moved to Forsyth, Montana. Donna worked at the Land Title Office in Forsyth then worked as Rosebud County Assessor until her retirement in 1998.
Donna was a member of the Immaculate Conception Parish. She was an active member of the religious education program as well as the immaculate Conception Church woman’s group.
Donna, like her husband Mick, was very proud of her Butte Irish heritage. Donna’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a joy to her life. She always found time to be with them, help them, and mentor them.
In the last few years, she cherished the time she shared with Brody and Tuff. She was a very patient and loving grandmother. The love she had for her family gave strength to all in happy times and sad times. She was our rock.
Donna is survived by her children: Dan (Mary) Kennedy of Forsyth, Mike Jr. of Alburquerque, New Mexico, Chris (Debbie) Kennedy of Belgrade, Minnesota. Sister Bunny Aumell of Helena, Montana, and brother Mike (Christy) McGrath of Butte, Montana. Grandchildren; Angie Klassen and Kenidy Klassen of Fort St. John BC, Canada. Great grandchildren; Brody Kennedy of Forsyth and Tuff Todoroff of Miles City, Montana. Sisters-in-law; Kathy Kennedy of Billings, Lisa McGrath of Missoula along with all her loving nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Mick Kennedy, daughter Connie Jo, grand daughter Nikki Kennedy, brother Charles (Bud) McGrath. Sisters in law Dodie Rolando and husband Bob, Millie Fleiner, and husband Dutch. Brothers in law Joe Kennedy, Jack Kennedy and wife Phyllis, and nephews Charlie McGrath and Devin Kennedy.

Donna was a “GEM” of a lady and close friend. We spent many hours working together @ St. Labre plus me getting to share many after school hours with all the Kennedy Family. One project we shared was an Internation Pot Luck; each member brought a dish from different countries of the world and shared with staff members, it was a blast! But that was Donna, always ready to take on a challenge. I will miss her and offer prayers & condolences to all the Kennedy Family – GOD Bless! What great memories for a very special lady!
