Donna Spotted Eagle, Cheyenne name Nahkoha’e, made her journey across the Milky Way going back home to be with the people on June 30, 2021. Donna made her home in Busby, Montana, and resided in Pablo, Montana, while attending college at Salish Kootenia Tribal College completing her bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Later Donna pursued her Master Degree at Montana State University completing all the coursework, except for the Master Thesis requirement. Donna was on the Mormon placement program (the Tame Family) in Seattle, Washington, for 4 years and still maintained contact over the years. She was employed in various occupations over the years with the Northern Cheyenne Tribe as an EMT and Director of Social Services, with the most recent at the Busby School as a para professional. Donna’s first marriage was with Abraham Spotted Elk, Jr., they had one child Chanda Spotted Elk. Her marriage with Dean (Douglas) Spotted Eagle who she dearly loved and helped raise his children Dean Spotted Eagle, Jr. and Deanna Spotted Eagle, and numerous grandchildren. Donna grew up in the Busby/Kirby area with her many cousins and friends, always riding horses with her Dad. During her marriage with Douglas they traveled to many pow-wows throughout Indian Country. Amongst the Cheyenne people she was a Sacred Woman going through the Sundance ceremony as a Sacred Woman twice, and at the time her and Douglas were caretakers of the Sacred Lady Buffalo Spirit Convenant for about 8 years. Donna give her Cheyenne name to her favorite niece Kinsey Earl James, Nahkoha’e. She enjoyed dressing nephews/nieces and grandchildren in native dancing regalia, enjoyed pow-wow/sundance camping, enjoyed visiting friends and having family get togethers..
Donna is preceded in death by her father Martin Roundstone, Jr., grandfathers Martin Roundstone, Sr., George Birdtail, Sr., Frank Grasshopper, grandmothers Mary Grasshopper, Jeanie Cliff Birdtail, aunts Beverly Roundstone, Victoria Roundstone, Racheal Carroll Roundstone, Ophelia Gives Birdtail, Joyce Gone, Vivian Birdtail, uncles George Birdtail, Jr., Homer Birdtail, Henry Birdtail, Wayne Birdtail, Rueben Birdtail, brother Jule Chance Roundstone, sister Justine Roundstone Manley, Julia Roundstone, cousin brothers Clark Small, Troy Small, Coleman Tallbull, Mathew Tallbull, Jr., cousin sisters Patricia Brady Limpy, Shirley Birdtail, Susie Birdtail Campbell, granddaughter Mary Cochrane.
She is survived by daughter Chanda Spotted Elk, son Dean Spotted Eagle, Jr., grandson Sky Jackson, Diamond Marsh, Dre Marsh, Trayl Roundstone, granddaughter June Cochrane, mother Almeda (Ron Cole) Birdtail, Aunt Doreen Birdtail, brothers J. David (Minnette) Roundstone, Mark (Tammy) Roundstone, Evelyn (Jim L.Whiteman) Roundstone, sisters Karen Ann Stone, nieces Kinsey James, Hailey James, Carly James, Gates (Truman) Williams, Chenoa Roundstone, Nephews David W. Roundstone, Trucke (Amber) James, Spur (Branlee) Roundstone, Rueben (Mary) Roundstone, Martin W. Roundstone, and her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Extended family includes Roundstone, Birdtail, Prairebear, Whitewolf, Lamewoman, Blackwolf, Siouxcalf, Spear, Waters, McManus, Medicinebull, Limpy, Littlebird, Snow, Trusler, Small, Spang, and our family is large so we apologize if we missed anyone.
