Doris Eileen Hanley, age 76, of Billings passed away on Monday, October 6, 2003 at the Horizon Hospice House in Billings.
Doris was born in Iliff, Colorado on August 10, 1927, the daughter of Fredrick Berthold and Mildred Martha (Weaver) Sutter. She attended country schools in Denrado, Colorado and graduated from high school at Crook, Colorado. Doris married Russ Taylor in 1947 in Colorado. They moved to Montana in 1950, where they lived on various ranches on the Powder River. On January 14, 1968, Doris married Jack Hanley and they moved to Absarokee, Montana. They later moved to Nebraska, Colorado, and then Western Montana before settling in Roundup, Montana where she had lived until moving to Billings in July of 2003 due to ill health.
Doris enjoyed singing and playing the piano by ear. She also loved crocheting, rock collecting, playing scrabble, cooking, especially her potato salad and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Doris was a very positive person who always had nice things to say about everyone.
Doris is survived by her husband, Jack Hanley of Roundup, MT; four sons: Larry Taylor and his wife Karen of Delaware; Jim Taylor of Miles City, MT; Brad Taylor and his wife Dee of Sheridan, WY; and Justin Hanley and his wife Tracy of Miles City, MT; three daughters: Kathy Leischner and her husband Jim of Baker, MT; Helen Turner and her husband Lew of Miles City, MT; and Cindy Baier and her husband Doug of Belgrade, MT; fourteen grandchildren: Nicole, Tom, Jamie, Kelly, Kevin, Stacy, Curt, Darcy, Nathan, Jeremy, Chayce, Travis, Brian, Raina Mae and one on the way; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters: Joyce LeBlanc and her husband Loyal of Craig, CO; and Sandy Cunningham of Nevada.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Dick Sutter; and two half brothers: Dean & George Patterson and Russ Taylor.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 9, 2003 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 10, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the Beaverlodge Cemetery in Ekalaka, Montana. Condolences may be sent to the family be visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.
