On October 16, 1934 Doris Dayle was born in Baker, MT to Maurice Victor “Andy” and Dayle (Martin) North. She was a “tom boy” and loved spending time with her cousins. She attended Baker schools and furthered her education after graduation at Jamestown College in North Dakota. Upon returning home she was employed by First National Bank until her marriage to Lynn Henry on November 26, 1955. They created their home on the Householder homestead near Ismay, MT for over 60 years. After their union she became the country wife she always wanted to be. Raising chickens, milking cows, gardening, and combining were her outside specialties in addition to managing the house, cooking, and reading books. Her favorite was the Bible.
Three wonderful children were born to them, Clifford John (56), Nancy Lynn (59), and Starla Kay (64). While living in town during their high school years she taught in the Title 1 Program at Baker High School. She served faithfully as a member of the American Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and Cowbell Organization. She enjoyed playing in the bridge, pinochle, and whist clubs.
She believed the most important group she belonged to was her family. Other than loving Jesus and living out her faith, she poured herself into supporting her family and friends. She tried to embody grace while being a trusted friend and confidant. She was an incredible hostess both in the country and in town. She maintained that reputation after moving to Miles City where she joined the United Methodist Church. Forever a student of scripture she was always sharing the redemptive message. At the end of her life she considered the people she loved and invested in to be her greatest legacy. She will be remembered for her delicious caramel rolls, writing faithful letters of encouragement, spending countless hours spent watching all sports and extracurricular activities her family participated in while eating popcorn, being a prayer warrior, and forgiving endlessly.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, brother Robert North, and sister Ruby Callen. Survivors include her husband of 66 years Lynn, children, Cliff (Paulette) Householder, Nancy (Mark) Plomer, and Starla Gundlach. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren Dael, Drew, Kalli, Aaron, Evan, Miranda, Amber, Alan, Abby and her greatgrandchildren Cade, Liam, Kinslie, Chasyn, Witt, Preston, Catie, Adalyn, Drew, Declan, Noah, Will, Austyn, Milo, Zachary, Daniel, Logan, Luke, Andrew, and Emily. She was awaiting her first great-great granddaughter in June. She also adored her nieces and nephews who she loved as her own.
She wanted everyone to know: scripture says “Oh death where is your sting and to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” Her last instructions were to reassure us with Psalm 16:11 and Ecclesiastes 7:1.
“Death is to me a release from pain and grief, both physical and mental. I love you all and follow Jesus.”
