Doris “Jean” Lloyd, age 78 of Broadus, passed away on February 28, 2017 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City.
Doris “Jean” Lloyd, aka Lucky Lloyd as she was so fondly referred to by her friends at the Powder River Manor was born in Broadus MT on February 24, 1939 to Walter and Angie Mitchell. She was the last of five Mitchell siblings to arrive in this world and the last to leave and join them on their next adventure.
Growing up on a dirt floor on Cashe Creek was not easy by no means. Jeans father passed away when she was a baby and her brothers, Ray and Harry took on the task of raising their sisters, Maxine, Mary and Jean, not a small task either.
Jean attended Broadus schools until she met her cowboy, Gilbert Victor Lloyd of Miles City, MT. They welcomed their first born in Sept of 1961, James “Button” Lloyd and in August of 1971 along came Vicki Jean Lloyd.
While Jean and Gib where living and working on Tongue River, Jean attended Cosmetology School in Miles City, MT and did hair for over 30 years. They later settled back in Broadus, west of town where Jean enjoyed her bum calves and lambs, but most of all her family and friends.
Jean never knew a stranger and her years of owning and working in several of the local restaurants she also made many, many friends. Of those close friends, if her family couldn’t find Jean, they knew they should start looking for Jackie. Those two where probably up to something along with some of their side kicks, Marion, Helen or Betty and sorry for those we have missed. She had so many close and good friends.
Jeans grandkids where also a highlight of her life. When they would come to visit, you could see her light up with joy. She was known to them as Granny, and they also knew they were truly loved by their Granny.
She is survived by her son: Button (Molly) and their children Alighta, Mariah and Sierra, daughter: Vicki (Leroy) and their children, Mitchell, Pruitt, Mckoy, 5 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Angie Mitchell, Brothers: Ray and Harry Mitchell, Sisters: Maxine and Mary Mitchell.
If desired, donations may be made to the Powder River Manor, or to the charity of one’s choice.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, March 9, 2017 from 2-6 p.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Broadus. Condolences to the family may be sent by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com

My thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of your mom. Jean was a special lady and I always enjoyed our visits. I visited her at the nursing home about a year ago when I was back visiting. She was so thrilled to see me and I to visit with her. I had a lot of fun with the ladies playing the machines when I worked at the Montana Bar several years ago and your mom was one of those special people. When you both lived elsewhere, we would visit and she always kept me informed of your lives and her grand kids. Know that all the family is in my thoughts and I will miss Jean.

Button and Vicki and families,
So sorry to hear about your Mom. May God be with you during this hard time.
Judy Denson-Keller says
My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Button, Vicki and families. Jean was not only a very kind, warm hearted person, but a talented hair stylist as well. During the 70’s, she was very much in demand by all. of teenage girls who wanted the shag haircut. She could really cut a ‘mean shag.’ Jean was another person who had a heart of “PURE GOLD!” The community of Broadus suffered another significant loss when Jean passed away. May God Bless you all during this difficult time.
