Dorothy Bit Alderson Tarter passed away Tuesday, July 7th, in Sheridan, WY.
Bit was born August 21st, 1928 to Allen and Dorothy (Bentley) Alderson. She grew up at Bone's Brothers Ranch in Birney, MT and graduated from Sheridan High School in 1945. Bit attended college at the University of Montana in Missoula before marrying Daniel Buzz Tarter of Ashland, MT in 1954. They made their home on their cattle ranch located on 3 Mile Creek, outside of Ashland, MT. She worked as an active ranch wife raising three children in a log house with no in-door plumbing or electricity. Bit enjoyed cooking, was an avid reader, and played a competitive game of Scrabble up until the time of her death.
Bit was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and youngest sister, Ann Alderson Brown, of Lewistown, MT. She is survived by her sister, Alice A. Mac Carty, of Story, WY, sons Allen (& Jackie) Tarter and Bryan (& Shannon) Tarter of Ashland, MT, and daughter, Sue Tarter of Sheridan, WY.
A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, July 24th at 3 pm at the Hillside Alliance Church in Ashland, MT. As her wish, cremation arrangements are being made by Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Mile City, MT.
