In Memory Of

Dorothy Wyrick Johnson, 60, of Brockway

January 22, 1957 – September 14, 2017

Dorothy May (Wyrick) Johnson, 60, Brockway, MT passed away Thursday, September 14th surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer.

Dorothy was born in Glendive, MT January 22nd 1957.  Her parents were Betty (Elmore) Wyrick and Albert “Toby” Wyrick.  Dorothy was married to Richard Johnson of Circle, MT on December 30th 1994.  Dorothy worked in many different capacities during her years in McCone County.  She did everything from drive heavy machinery, over the road trucking driving, running the swimming pool, working at the Cenex C Store, cooking at the Tastee Freeze, bartending at JJ’s, and many other occupations during her 30+ years living in the area. Dorothy loved to go boating and fishing on Fort Peck and her grandchildren held a special place in her heart.  She was a staple at Blue’s and Zephyr baseball games cheering on her sons and rallying the crowds with her signs.  One of her greatest accomplishments was that she had 33 years of sobriety where she stared down her demons and showed that she was in complete control of her life.

Dorothy was preceded in death by Toby Wyrick (father), Betty Wyrick (mother), Glen Wyrick (brother) Mitzie Wyrick (sister) Chale’ Kouba (daughter).

Dorothy is survived by her husband Rick Johnson, children Michael (Devon) Flamm, Mathius (Michelle) Mayes, Jeffrey Kouba, Jericho Kouba, Grandchildren Maddie Flamm (18), Macie Flamm (14), Mason Mayes (4), Mother Kay Wolff, Siblings Chale’ Clark-Bolin, Dixie Lee, Jackie (Grant) Boysun, Marlene (Dee) Turner, Michael (Molly) Johnson.

Public viewing will be on Wednesday September 20th from 2:00 – 4:00 at Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Circle MT.  The family will have a private burial at a later date.

The family wished to thank the many health care professionals in Billings and Circle that contributed to Dorothy’s quality of life right up to her final days.  God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

    Dorothy,
I miss your delightful smile and your free hugs. You always knew when I could use one of those hugs.
Rick, Kay, Jackie and family and friends, my sincerest condolences are sent your way.
I have learned from the best of women that a smile and a big hug can change the outlook of a persons day or even lifetime. Thank you Dorothy, I am honored to call you my friend. (3 years sober) Deb

    Rick:
You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers as you continue forward, may God’s strength surround you and may His angels hold you up through this difficult time. And, as time marches on may he bless you with all the special memories that you and Dorothy shared. I just remember that laugh of hers!! It was contagious. And, that’s how I love to remember my dad, his contagious laugh!! It will help lift you up when there are days you might need lifting.

I was good friends with Dorothy many years ago. We worked together at 4 Bs in billings montana . We had many good times together. I moved to Iowa and she lived across the street with Fran Whiteside. Chale moved to Iowa shortly after and It was so awsome to have a friend from Montana there. I did dishes at the resturant in Augusta Iowa and served chicken . She is an old golden soul !!I have not been in touch and don’t know her friends now but Just saying God bless her and I am remembering an awsome woman today.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this difficult time. It’s never easy losing a loved one and we can only try to understand why Dorothy was taken away from her family and friends this early in life. One thing about it, being sober for that many years, she is probably laughing her butt off at those of us that are doing so. May you rest in peace, Dorothy. God Bless you all.

Goodby my dear friend. My heart breaks having to say goodby to you. I will always remember your wonderful laughter, your generous heart and adventurous spirit. Your love helped create the person I am. I will cherish and carry our memories with me the rest of my days. May God bless and hold your family as they say goodby.

Would have been nice of someone to let her “sons” (Jericho and Jeffery JR) know of her passing. Too bad that her now Daughter in-law will have so many unaswered questions as the family does not talk. Just this Christmas after her passing were sent a Christmas card stating she was batteling cancer not that she had passed. I would have liked to know where she was burried so at least the boys could have the info if they wanted it.

If only the world knew of what she did to her own “son”…. Instilling primal fear, that led to a life of hatred, anger, and worthlessness. Whoever is the above comment does not speak for me, and needs to be taken down. Also, you can remove this comment, but please remove me from her obituary. You can email me to get verification.
