Dorothy Lois Warner Worman, age 86, of Biddle, MT passed away October 9, 2015 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus surrounded by family. She passed away on David’s birthday.
Dorothy was born April 7, 1929 at the family ranch at Little Bearskull Creek. She was the youngest of 5 children of Beecher S. and Nora (Stowers) Warner. Brothers were Beecher, Seldon, Clarence, and Don. She attended school at Rocky Butte, Broadus, Minneapolis and graduated from high school in Miles City, MT. She worked during her high school years as a telephone operator to have extra spending money. She lived with several families while in Miles City. Dorothy loved all animals and she even broke horses for herself and for neighbors. While growing up she also raised many bum calves and lambs. She and David met in their younger years and later became engaged her senior year. Then after graduation she moved to Gillette, WY and worked at the 5 N Dime until David and she were married on September 21, 1948. In 1949 their son Richard (Rick) was born in Gillette, WY. They lived in Gillette, WY until the spring of 1950 when they moved to Biddle, MT and started a career of almost 60 years hauling mail from Biddle, MT to Gillette, WY. Also during this time they ranched with Beecher, Don and Nora on the family ranch. In 1954, their daughter Cynthia “Cynde” (Worman) Trucano was born. Also a son Michael Lee was stillborn in 1963. While busy with children Dorothy was also busy with ranch work. She loved her cows and had names for all of them. After the kids were older Dorothy carried mail and fed her cows while David was busy working. In 1979 she built her dream house on the ranch. David was not as excited as she was about the new home and leaving Biddle so she told him you better learn to cook because I am moving with or without you. In 1986 Dorothy was carrying mail and had a complete heart block at the post office in Gillette. We were very blessed for wise doctors and she received her first of four pacemakers. They traveled to Hawaii, California, Washington and Canada. Dorothy was a member of the Biddle Community Club and enjoyed bowling on the afternoon league Country Gals with Cynde and got to spend some great quality time together. Dorothy was a very hard worker and did the work of a man. She was what you would call a true cowgirl. She still owned cows and up to a couple years ago fed her cows and calved them in the spring. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of her life. Her kindness and caring for others were her strongest qualities.
Dorothy is survived by her son Rick (Cathy) of Clearmont, WY and daughter Cynde (Randy) of Boyes, MT. 5 grandchildren: Mistee (Mark) Elliot of Sheridan, WY, Devin Worman and Sage Worman of Laramine, WY, Lyndsey (Brian) Bailey of Gillette, WY, Marlee (Jiggs) Bilbrey of Biddle, MT and Cynde Jo (Chad) Gatlin of Broadus, MT. She had 15 great grandchildren: Blake and Madyson Godwin, Drew and Brooke Worman, Rhagen Johnson, Jaxon, Shaylee, Rickee and Randen Bilbrey, Seldon Little, Hayle Trucano, Dalton and Karli Collins, Aria and Myla Gatlin. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, son Michael, 4 brothers Beecher, Seldon, Clarence, and Don.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Faith Bible Church in Broadus, MT. Interment will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Powder River Manor or charity of one’s choice. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting:www.stevensonandsons.com.
