In Memory Of

Douglas Anderson, age 70, of Forsyth

December 26, 1952 – July 30, 2023

Douglas Von Anderson was born on December 26, 1952 in Logan, Utah. He passed away on July 30, 2023 due to complications from a stroke. He spent his early years in Nibley, Utah, seeking out adventures with his siblings and cousins. He moved with his family to Perry and later Brigham City, Utah where he graduated from high school.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force directly out of high school. He originally served as a collision control specialist, which he said was a fancy way of saying he repainted airplanes during the Vietnam conflict. He was lucky enough to be stationed at Travis Air Force Base with his lifelong friend, Steve McCoy for a time. He also spent time in Korea and Guam. He ended his military career as a C5 loadmaster and was proud of his service to his country.

After an honorable discharge and 8 years of service, Doug worked as a glass glazier, as an auto body and paint repairman and later retired as a truck driver. His personality was larger than life and he had a joke and a story for everyone he met.

Doug married Jean Holmes and they were later divorced. He married Sandra Laney and they were later divorced. He married Pat Chanlder in 1998. She preceded him in death in 2017.

Doug moved to Forsyth, MT years ago and loved the slow pace and small town life. He worked for Prince Trucking for many years, retiring in 2018.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pat, his parents, Von O. Anderson and LaDean Hansen Dains as well as his step-fathers, Jesse Henry and Robert (Bob) Dains. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Linda Lou Anderson, brother, Clair H. Anderson, and nephews, Travis Anderson and Casey Anderson. He is survived by his sisters, Becky (Dave) Sangberg and Julie (JD) McMurtrey, and his brother, Steve (Sandy) Anderson, his step-son Mike (Shelly) Chandler, and 3 granddaughters, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends too numerous to mention.

Doug knew how to give you a hug, while eating a bug and cutting a rug……supposedly.

So long my friend you were always good for a laugh. We talked about taking that drive out north, it’s to bad we only talked about it. You will be missed by many. R.I.P

Awwwww Doug – sure do miss you — Miss your smile, your hugs, always having time to talk about absolutely everything. So many things to tell you. We had so many good discussions — your knowledge of Air Force things was always spot on — your positive ways always made a person feel better! You definitely are missed by many! Love you Doug — I keep looking for you to come into the bar — wish I had one more chance to tell you how much you mean — “Off we go into the wild blue yonder, climbing high into the sun…”
