Douglas Wade Camp, at 64, of Miles City passed away at his home on November 13, 2021.
Wade was born on September 13, 1957 in Dillon, MT. He was the son of Marion Leroy and Patricia Ann (Bartzen) Camp. He graduated from high school in Billings, MT before moving to Miles City, MT, where he eventually obtained his associates degree at Miles Community College. Wade was married in 1977 to Deanne VerBeck, and to that union his one and only child, son Rafe Aaron Camp was born. Even though Wade and Deanne divorced, they remained close friends and considered each other family. Wade accomplished many things during his life, but always considered his son his greatest accomplishment. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for about 10 years in track maintenance. He then worked for Western Gaming for about 20 years as a technician and enjoyed his position, and was very appreciated by many in that position, as Wade was very sociable and very dedicated. Wade was a respectful and kind man, was not afraid to say what was on his mind and enjoyed humor. He loved and greatly enjoyed his family, which meant the world to him. He enjoyed friends’ company and always enjoyed having a good time. He enjoyed several beloved pet dogs during his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and those who knew him.
Wade was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents, and his sister Pam Camp.
Wade is survived by his son Rafe Camp of Miles City; sisters: Becky (Don) Groscop of Billings and Kelly Leone of Billings and a brother Chip (Maryanne) Camp of Dillon. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews: Brian, Charlie, Tanya and Samantha; his great nieces and nephews include: Trent, Jacob, Jaden, Tristen, Savannah, Madison, Jaxson, Erica, Emily and Mariah. Wade is also survived by his extended family: Quinn and Deanne (VerBeck) Wright, Evan Keller, Glenn and Yvonne VerBeck, Mark VerBeck and family (Robert, Angie and Britni), Jack and Glenda Lockie and family (Seth, Shaun and Shane), Denis and Rhonda Leidholt and family (Kylee, Koby and Kyrtlie) and numerous great nieces and nephews. Thinking of you all during this very sad time. Wade and his Weimarner’s and the days back in the late 7o’s and the early 80’s is how I’ll always remember Wade. I can still see him in the grey pickup with those doggies and a friendly wave. I’m so sorry for your loss.

When I saw Wade’s picture, it suddenly dawned on me that Wade had been one of my students at MCC some years ago. I enjoyed having him in class. He seemed like a good guy. That he is just two years younger than I am frankly has a chilling effect. I’m so sorry to see he has gone way too soon, and I express my sincerest sympathies to the family.

SO SORRY TO HEAR ABOUT WADE. WE GET SO BUSY IN OUR OWN LIVES WE LOSE TRACK OF PEOPLE WE LIKE TO SEE FROM TIME TO TIME UNTIL UNFORTUNATELY SEE THEIR NAMES IN AN OBITUARY. Spend time with friends and family you luv before they are gone. My condolence to RAFE and to all who loved Wade.
James Arneson says
Wade always had a smile when he greeted everybody. I enjoyed seeing him around town when he was working on machines, taking his dogs for a ride or shopping in a grocery store. I had not seen Wade in a while and the last time I did it was in Albertsons. Always the kind hello, that smile and a sparkle in his eyes even though he wasn’t feeling well. I am sorry for the loss of your dad Rafe. There are no words that can ease the pain of loss, but focus on the best of memories, what he always wanted for you in life, be proud of what a wonderful man your dad was always. May God comfort all of your family, friends and those who knew Him. RIP..
