Douglas James Martin was born on April 3, 1961 in Miles City, MT to Russell and Peggy (Jacobson) Martin. While growing up in Miles City Doug enjoyed playing various sports including football, baseball and basketball. Doug graduated from Custer County High School in 1979 and after going to college for a short period of time he moved back to Miles City where he began working for the Montana Department of Transportation. Doug married Novelene Doucette in January of 1997 in Miles City at the First Lutheran Church. The family grew in January of 2002 with Caitlyn and Ethan in 2005. Doug continued to work for the Montana Department of Transportation until after 30 years of loyal service he retired in March of 2011.
Doug was an avid fisher, golfer and sports watcher. He cherished this past summer coaching Ethan in tee-ball and watching Caitlyn as a catcher in softball. He enjoyed watching football especially the Miles City Cowboys, the Grizzlies and the Cincinnati Bengals. His last hurrah was a trip to Denver to watch the Bengals play the Broncos. Above all Doug enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Doug is survived by his wife Novelene Martin of Miles City; his children: Caitlyn and Ethan; his parents, Russell and Peggy Martin of Miles City; his sisters: Nan Wade and Naomi (Scott) Rhodes, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Curt Martin.

I was so sorry to hear of Doug’s passing and can’t help but think of all the fun we all used to have together as we all played kickball and Red Rover and a million other games as we all hung out in our “neighborhood gang of kids” growing up. Words seem inadequate to express the sadness we feel about Doug’s death. We are here to support you in your grieving process. With sincere sympathy,
Toni Campbell Tivy and family
