Randall James “Randy” Reynolds, age 54, unexpectedly passed away on Friday, September 27th, 2013. He was comfortably sleeping in his favorite recliner with his beloved pugs, Tivo and Migo, by his side.
Marge and Jack Reynolds welcomed Randy into this world on Christmas Day, 1958. Randy was born and raised in Glendive, Montana. In Glendive, with his brothers Tom, Bill, John and Bob, he learned to fish and hunt, and fell in love with the outdoors. Over the years, Randy enjoyed numerous fishing trips in Alaska, Canada, and Mexico with family and friends.
Randy left Glendive to attend Creighton University for his undergraduate studies and his doctorate in dentistry. As a dental student, he volunteered in the Dominican Republic where he met Creighton medical student, Lourdes Rondan. Randy and Lourdes began a three-year courtship that included frequent, lengthy phone calls and many visits between Glendive and Los Angeles. They were married in Los Angeles on July 23rd, 1988.
Randy and Lourdes, now together in Glendive, were excited to begin the most important facet of their lives, their own family. Within five years, Bobby, Mia, Toni and Nicky filled their home. It was a fun, happy, chaotic house full of toys, books, stuffed animals and lots of love.
In 1997, Randy, Lourdes and the kids moved down the road to Miles City. As Randy and Lourdes worked, the kids grew and hockey skates and golf clubs replaced the toys. Randy loved coaching youth hockey, golfing with his kids, and spending countless weekends traveling across Montana for games and meets. Randy loved summer vacations and was always excited to spend the holidays in either Glendive or Los Angeles, a city Randy grew to love as a second home.
Randy treasured time spent with his brothers telling stories, laughing, and sharing memories. He loved visiting Glendive, sitting in Jack’s office on weekend mornings and talking about Reynolds Market, the family business. He could spend hours talking with his dad, listening and learning, with his mother Marge joining them and keeping the coffee cups full.
This past July, with their four children, Randy and Lourdes celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary at the ranch where they held their wedding reception. A few weeks later they sent their youngest child off to college and began the next chapter of their lives; the empty nest. Over their last month Randy and Lourdes talked and laughed about how fast the time had flown, the varied and exciting lives their children were leading, and of the wonderful possibilities the future held.
We love you, Randy. Our hearts ache now that you are gone, but your loving spirit and our faith that you are with God comforts us. Godspeed, Dad.
Randy is survived by his wife Lourdes of Miles City, MT, his children Bobby, Mia, Toni, and Nicky all of Miles City, MT, his mother Marge Reynolds of Glendive, MT, and his brothers Tom (Patty) and Bill (Jacki) all of Glendive, MT and John (Elena) of Sidney, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Jack and his brother Bob.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, October 3, 2013 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Rosary and Vigil service will follow on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Miles City. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. in Glendive, MT at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Dawson County Cemetery in Glendive. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements. I was so shocked when I learned of Randy’s passing. I really don’t know what to say. However, I found this beautiful poem that articulates of how I feel.

Randy was such a great person and a fantastic dentist. My mom (Pam Galla) worked for him in Jordan for many years and greatly missed working with him when he closed the practice in Jordan. Randy and his wife Lourdes had my parents at their home many times and had great times as my mom not only thought of him as her “boss” but a very close friend. She loved him and Lourdes and spending time with their children when they were small. I can only imagine how greatly he will be missed by all of his family especially his children and Lourdes and also his coworkers and employees whom have all been so lucky to have been part of his life. My heart aches for the loss of a dear old friend. I have been morning his passing ever since Jeanette called me at my office on Monday. I am a college close friend of Randy. We endured the challenges of college at Creighton University where I met him in 1979 and were roommates for two years. We both graduated in 1982 and I know how proud his family was of Randy’s accomplishments in college and then entering Creighton Dental School. I have Randy to thank for my dental career, for it was this caring man whom opened my eyes to Dentistry. I have been praying for Lourdes and her children for their loss. I hope to join this special man one day with our Father in heaven. I wish I could be in Glendive for his funeral in person but I will be there in spirit; Randy, I shed my tears with your passing.

You don’t know me, but I just accidentally stumbled onto your husband’s memorial site by complete chance. I was looking for a picture of one of my clients Randal Olivia, DDS… and saw your husband’s picture and thought it might be Randy’s.
Anyway… I too am the widow of a dentist. We were in a car accident and he passed at the scene. We had been married just shy of 20 years. My life was turned totally upside down in a fraction of a second. I do in many ways understand your grief. I just want you to know that there is someone out there praying for you day to day. I can be a testament to what prayer did to help me survive.
