In Memory Of

Duane Gackle

Visitation: Friday, February 22, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Circle.

Vigil Service: Friday, February 22, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Circle.

Funeral Mass: Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Circle.

Rite of Committal: Riverview Cemetery in Circle.

Duane Gackle, at the age of 66 years, 5 months left this world in the arms of his Lord after nine months of suffering with cancer on February 14, 2008 in Yuma, Arizona.

Duane, the eldest son of Oscar and Annetta (Vogele)Gackle, was born on September 15, 1941 in Glendive, Montana. He was raised and attended grade school in Brockway, Montana. He graduated from Circle High School and then attendedKinman Business University. Upon graduating fromKinman, he joined the US Army and spent about three years in Germany (1961-1963). Duane married Irene M. Adams on November 20, 1965. They raised two wonderful sons, Boyd and Derek. Duane was employed by McCone Electric Co-op for 37years and was General Manager for 18 years prior to retiring. Upon retiring, Duane and Irene spent the winter months traveling in the motor home and had visited all of the western states. They especially like Yuma, Arizona and spent several months there each year.

Duane was very active in the community and held offices in various organizations: Circle Jaycees Blue Chip President, McCone County Memorial Association President, McCone County Nursing Home Association Secretary, McCone County Federal Credit Union, Circle Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture and St. Francis Xavier Parish Council. He was also a member of the Circle Lefties bowling team. Duane enjoyed fishing in Canada and hunting elk, birds and geese with his friends. His pride and joy was his yard. He was very particular about fertilizing, putting down gypsum, edging, mowing and trimming. Of course, the result of all his hard work was a beautiful lawn.

Duane is survived by his wife of 42 years, Irene; sons, Boyd and is wife Lisa (Smith) and their children Colter, Charli and Cody of Plano, TX; and Derek and his wife Melissa (Burkhart) and their children Jadyn and Deacon of Hardin, MT; brother, Del and his wife, Sheryn of Brockway, MT; step-mother, Lois Gackle of Miles City, MT; and numerous nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Annetta and a sister, Gloria Lala.

Visitation will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel in Circle. A Vigil service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Circle. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Circle. Rite of Committal will follow at the Riverview Cemetery in Circle.

Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
