Duane Eddie Hobbs a.k.a. “PeeWee” and “The Hit Man” was born on August 24, 1964 in Pasadena, California to Barbara (Sherman) Alderman and Paul Hobbs, whom Duane never met. Duane was born 1 month premature and due to his tiny stature his Grandpa, Otto Sherman, nicknamed Duane “PeeWee”. He attended St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana and Graduated from Colstrip High School in 1982 then went to DeVry University in, Phoenix, Arizona for a year. Deciding to pursue a career in Radio Broadcasting he began as a DJ in Miles City signing off with “KMCM where it’s always 92 and Sunny.” On the radio show he went by the name Hit Man Hobbs both on the radio and for events which was quite a new concept at the time. This job brought him much joy and connected him with people around the Country. Duane would later go on to work at the Colstrip Power Plants until a motorcycle accident would cause him to choose a different line of work. Duane then went to work for Montana Juvenile Correction in Miles City. It was at this time he met Jennifer and they married August 17th, 2002. Through this union a son was born , December 18, 1997. His son Braedon would remain to be the center of his life until his death. When he moved to Billings, Montana to help take care of his mom he continued working as a security guard at various establishments. Duane suffered with Diabetes, heart problems, and three types of cancer. He spent the last year and a half of his final days at Adventara Nursing Home in Billings just rooms away from his Mom. Through it all he remained upbeat never missing an opportunity to bust a joke. Duane was a dependable employee, working up to three jobs at a time. His work ethics was second to none. He loved spending time with his oldest niece and nephew to whom he was like a brother. He enjoyed cars from rc to low rider and loved to cruise. He wanted everyone he talked to, to laugh and enjoy the moment and spread happiness in his path. He was a loved and loving Son, Father, Brother, Uncle, and Friend and he will be missed.
He is survived by his mother Barbara (Sherman, Alderman) Gies, son Braedon, brother James (Rita) Alderman, two nephews Dustin (Janel) Alderman and Kyle Alderman, one niece Jasmine Alderman (Bryan), five grand nieces, and one great niece and one great nephew. Selena D. Smith says
I’ve stared at this page ever since it became available, I thought several times, I’ll come back to it, here I sit, still staring, remembering every little thing, every voice he talked in, from his ‘cousins’ to his DJ’ing, to my favorite Elvis, I never knew when I picked up the phone who would be calling when it was Duaney on the other end. I may not know many of you by your faces, but I know you by the stories that he shared so full of love for you all. My heart is breaking for you all, for me, for his mom, for his son. I know my life will never be the same. I know Duane finally got what was coming to him, released from the body that could no longer hold his lively, adventurous, sometimes mischievous spirit. I tell myself that is my only solace is to know that he is free, free of everything that was causing his pain, his questions in faith, his fear of leaving his son, his mom. I listened to the song, In the Arms of an Angel, and I imagined when he was engulfed by those magnificent wings, every feeling he ever wanted to feel was at the moment given to him as he was carried above. I know Duane Hobbs held that golden ticket to Heaven. I’ll be keeping you all in my thoughts, my memories of his love for you, and in my every prayers. May God give you all the comfort of peace, understanding, and a little glimpse of the miracle that the Almighty has Duaney with Him now.

Raymond and Twila Loveridge says
So sorry to hear about Duane pass in away. I went to high school with Duane, and later as a DJ at KMCM he and I worked up a Friday night “new album review” where he would play an entire new album provided by my store at the time and we would give it away on air after the show was over. We only were able to do a couple months before the station management felt it didn’t fit the “format”-but we had fun with it for a few months, and had what was probably the only show of it’s kind in such a small market. Duane’s kind ways and laughter will be missed. Ray and Twila Loveridge

I want to take this time to thank everyone who commented on the loss of my brother and the love we all shared a little bit of nice memories and prayers. I also want to thank the dear friends and relatives who prayed for him and with fond memories that may have been too personal? Believe me I’ve got a few that may not be appropriate humor for today. But I’m totally grateful for those prayers and memories, Nea’ish
