    Carol and family,
Our heartfelt condolences go out to you in your loss. I enjoyed when Duane came to city hall to visit with the Mayor and have a cup of coffee. His laugh always put a smile on our faces.

    Dear Carol & Family
We are sorry for your loss of Duane. May your memories bring a smile to your face and peace to your soul. We always enjoyed visits with Duane whether in Colstrip or Huntley, we never knew where we would run into him on his missions. A true guardian for our Colstrip and Montana. Our thought and prayers are with you all.

Carol and family ~ We are so sorry to learn that Duane has passed. Our hearts are heavy as we remember what a great man that he was. Colstrip has been enriched by his presence and his concern for the community and the people who live there. He was especially nice to our grandmother, Signe Rye, and when she passed, you had us out for a wonderful dinner to share memories. We hope that you all are remembering those special memories you had with Duane. We are sending our sincere condolences.

Eastern Montana (and especially Rosebud County) have lost one of their biggest cheerleaders, and we’re so sorry to see that. Duane was a solid, steady reliable man of immense integrity. Our hearts go out to his family, his friends, and his community.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Carol and the Ankney family. I and Eastern Montana school administrators were constantly involved with Duane at the State Legislature. During these unusual times, it is important to note that Duane was highly respected by both political parties for his honesty and sense of humor. He indeed was a true political leader and man of great integrity.

    Carol and Family,
We are so sorry for the loss of Duane. Colstrip and all of Montana have lost a great leader. He taught me so much over the years especially in our time with Western Energy and with AAU wrestling. His impact on our community and more personally on me and my family will absolutely never be forgotten. Rest in peace Duane.

    Carol and Family,

I will personally miss Duane’s humor, wit, tenacity and overall presence in this community. He was one of a kind, always a gentleman (who jokingly called me kid even after 30+ years of knowing him). Our heart goes out to the family, he will be dearly missed. RIP my friend.

    Carol & family,
Duane will be remembered for his integrity, his deep commitment to his family & his constituents, his tenacious manner, and that mustache! He was one of a kind. I learned a lot from him and really appreciated his questions and support over the years at CPS. He always tried to do what was right and that’s something special. You are in our prayers.
