Dwight Fredrick Livengood, age 67, of Miles City, Montana, died Saturday, November 28th near 2pm in Billings, Montana at St Vincent’s HospitalPresent were his son, granddaughter with unborn great-granddaughter, and his fiancé’, Magdalena “Margaret” Gross.
Dwight was born the 3rd child to Marian and Kermit Livengood. He arrived on Dec. 12, 1947 at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Montana. As the third of four children he seemed to feel he had to work extra hard to get attention, sometimes that attention wasn’t positive. A bright child, his father enrolled him in 1st grade in Aug. of 1952 even though he was really only 4. Dwight suffered from eczema most of his life and he battled it into adulthood. He gained the nickname Buster and you probably can figure out why.
He went all 12 years at the Plevna schools, graduating in 1965. He attended his 50th class reunion this past summer. He participated in sports mainly basketball, and loved to sing with the choir. One of his very first public appearances was when he broke free from the rest of us and stood in front of his mother as she delivered a solo for a public function. He loved horses, and participated in rodeos, riding saddled buckers. He enlisted in the Army rather than be drafted. He spent most of his time at Ft. Lewis WA with a year in VietNam. Not his favorite time of his life. Following his discharge as an E5 Sergeant of Company B, 5th Battalion, 12th Infantry, Dwight worked as a land serveyor and later for Burlington Northern Railroad.
Dwight is a lifetime member of VFW Post #1579.
He is preceded in death by his older brother, DuWayne Livengood, and his parents, Kermit and Marian (Good) Livengood. Dwight is survived by his previous wives, Julie LaBree, Sheila Cline, and Carla Matzen, fiancé’, Magdalena “Margaret” Gross, his older sister, Bonita “Bonnie” Phillips, and younger brother, Ross Livengood. Dwight has four children, Joel, Jeff, Jeanne, and Jennifer, eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, in utero, and numerous nieces and nephews.
