Earl Jone's, Jr., age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. He fought a short but courageous battle with the lung disease Pulmonary Fibrosis.
He was born on August 19, 1937 to Beatrice Rosebud and Earl Jone's Sr. in Riverside, Montana. Until his death, dad was the CHR Supervisor at IHS for 33 years. Before that he worked at the gun factory, Moes Chevy Garage, A&S Industries and in his younger years he was a firefighter and did farm work. Dad was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt fish and go camping. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren, and his two special great grandchildren Mia Leigh and Lil Darrell Hunter Jone's. He was also looking forward to the births of two more great- grandchildren in the near future.
In his earlier years dad liked to sing and pow-wow. Starting out with the Poplar Juniors, and later singing with the Badlands Singers. From 1974 1978 he sang for the Sitting Bull Sun Dance. He traveled all over the U.S. Canada, and Russia, dad took pride in his singing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sons Darrell Moses Jone's and Tony Lee Jone's; sisters Rita Jone's, Mary Jane Jone's and Veronica Jone's; brothers Richard Jone's and Wendell and Leonard Dupree. Dad is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Vivian Douglas Jone's; his children Earlene (Michael J.) Ackerman, William (Nancy) Jone's, Earl Jone's II, DeAnna (Sam) Red Star, and Marta (Tony) Wise Spirit; grandsons Matthew Earl, Myles David (Cassie), Brent William, Joseph Ray, Duran Joseph, Earl William, and William Earl Jr. granddaughters Heather Ann, Christine Lynn (Jordan) OGuin, Raina Eyvette and Samilynn Monica; great grandchildren Mia Leigh and Darrell Hunter Jone's; special nephew that he helped raise is Terry Bunker Two Hearts. Survivors also include Aunt Gladys Lewis, Uncle Joe Jone's; brothers Maynard and Edgar Jone's, Richard Young, Raymond, Harold and Calvin Dupree; sisters Juanita Youngman, Naomi Young, Arlene Ricker, Donna Follet, and Laverne Dupree; special sisters from Canada Irene Jacques and Vivian Yuzicapi. Dad is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and grandchildren too numerous to mention, but he loved them all.
Dad was a family man who instilled many teachings to his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by mom, his children and grandchildren who loved him dearly. Dad gave his heart to the Lord. Our comfort is knowing that he is in Heaven and not suffering anymore. Well see him again one day. Until then well always love and miss you Dad, youll forever be in our hearts.
Wake services will be Sunday October 21, 2007 at 7:00 pm at the Poplar Cultural Center. Funeral services will be Monday October 22, at 10:00 am also at the Poplar Cultural Center. Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
