In Memory Of

Ed Kennedy

April 17, 1960 – June 25, 2012

Edward Ryan Kennedy, age 52, of Miles City, MT passed away after a short illness on Monday, June 25, 2012 at the Billings Clinic in Billings, MT, with his family at his side.

Ed was born April 17th, 1960 in Ekalaka, Montana, the youngest child of William and Faye (Ward) Kennedy. Ed attended grade school in Ekalaka, MT and graduated from Carter County High School in 1978. After graduating, Ed worked at various jobs around the Ekalaka area, until he decided to attend Helena Vocational Tech School in Helena, MT and graduated with a mechanics certificate. Ed married Kyla King on May 24, 1986. They made their home in Miles City, MT. There they raised three children, Tayler James, Jessica Marie, and Brooke Nicole. Ed enjoyed his family. They kept him busy attending sports and musical activities. He coached little league baseball and hockey, was president of the little league baseball association and was instrumental in helping with the hockey program in Miles City. He was very proud of his children.

Ed started a career with Montana Farmers Union Insurance Company after he and Kyla were married. He worked very hard at his business, selling insurance to many neighbors, family and friends. He received many awards for his salesmanship, becoming a member of the Mile High club and winning several trips to various areas of the U.S. and the world. Ed loved to travel and taking family and friends with him made it even more special.

Ed never knew a stranger and was always busy. He enjoyed cooking; prime rib at Christmas was his specialty, golf, rodeo, fishing, hunting and wood working. His new wood shop was a highlight for him. Ed was an asset to his community, being an avid member of the Ag Council for the Chamber and the Town and Country Club. Ed worked hard and was a friend to all. He will be missed.

His is survived by his wife Kyla Kennedy of Miles City, son Tayler Kennedy, daughter Jessica Kennedy (fiancé Chantz Weeding), and Brooke Kennedy of Miles City; his mother Faye Kennedy of Ekalaka, brother Bill (Dallas) Kennedy of Ekalaka and sister Teresa (Rod) Tauck, of Hammond, MT; father & mother-in-law, Argaylon and Charlotte King of Ekalaka, brothers-in-law: Carl and (Rita) King and Dale and (Helen) King of Hammond, sisters-in-law: Sherrie (Kim) Curry of Sturgis, South Dakota and Karen (Frank) Nies of Ekalaka, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father William Edward Kennedy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2012 with family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Kyla and family we hold you in our hearts at this time of sadness.

My mother Marjorie Curry always considered Faye a very special friend so it was with fond feelings that I watched the Kennedy family. My thoughts are with all the Kennedy, and King families at this hard time.

I was shocked to hear about Ed and can only imagine the loss and sorrow you are feeling at this time. Accept the help of those who offer it, and ask for help when you need it. I wish you all the strength you need to deal with your own loss plus the loss to your children, friends, family. My thoughts are with you.

Kyla and family, Faye, Teresa, Bill and families,
I was so sorry to hear about Ed. Peggy Blair and I were just visiting about that cute grin and sparkling eyes of his. We knew he was up to something in class when those eyes started to sparkle.
With sincere sympathy and prayers for peace and understanding at this difficult time.
