Eddie Whittenberg

Funeral services: will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11:00 am at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.

Interment: will be held at a later date in the Custer County Cemetery

Edward Lee Whittenberg, age 19, passed away due to an accidentally drowning on November 27, 2008 in Miles City, MT and was found onSaturday, May 2, 2009 in the Yellowstone River near Miles City.

Eddie was born on June 18, 1989 in Eatonville, WA, the son of Dean Whittenberg and Mary Lou Merchant. He was known by many of his friends and family as Ziggy. Eddie went to school at Lincoln Elementary, Washington Middle School and attended Custer County District High School through his junior year.Eddie loved to go for walks along the river with his dog Mennesh and just sit on the bank and listen to the water. He enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his dog. He also loved to play pool, enjoyed listening to music, paying video and computer games. Eddie was also starting to learn more about the Native American culture as it was his heritage. He was proud to let people know he was part Native American.

Eddie is survived by his parents Dean Whittenberg and Mary Lou Merchant both of Miles City. His brothers Dallas Whittenberg of Australia, Buck Whittenberg of Minot, North Dakota (currently in the Job Corps), Matthew Wheeler of Miles City and Mark Whittenberg of Washington state. He is also survived by three half sisters Laurie, Denise and Elaine Whittenberg, his grandparents Dallas and Betty Merchant of Volborg, Aunt Linda Merchant of Volborg, his special brother Tony Hudson of Miles City as well as special Aunt Deanne Yates of Miles City.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at 11:00 am at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Private Interment will be held at a later date in the Custer County Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.Should friends desire, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a local animal shelter or humane society of one's choice.
