MacMillan Bernard 81, died, Saturday June 19,2004, at the Horizon Health Care in Daytona Beach, Florida where she has resided for the past 2 years following a stroke.
Edna was born on October 12, 1922 in Hartford, Connecticut the daughter of Joseph and Mary Bourbeau. She spent her youth and attended schools in East Glastohbury, Connecticut where she graduated from High School. Edna worked for the Pioneer Parachute Company. On July 25, 1950 Edna married Robert MacMillan in Homer, New York. To this union 2 sons were born, Robert and Donald. Robert, Sr. died in 1966 while the family was living in the greater Hartford area. On March 31, 1973, Edna married Gerard "Gerry" Bernard in Coventry, Connecticut where they resided until retirement in 1979. Gerry and Edna traveled extensively throughout the United States and Canada spending considerable time in Forsyth with family. They moved to Holly Hill, Florida in 1983 where she has lived since. Gerry died in 1993. Edna was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Ormond Beach, Florida. She enjoyed country line dancing and socializing with friends in the Daytona Beach area.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husband's, one brother Phillip and her son Robert. Survivors include Edna's son Donald B. MacMillan of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, one brother Nelson J. Bourbeau of Morrisville, New York; 5 stepchildren: Sylvia Beals of Forsyth, MT, David Bernard of Texas, Gail Boutin of Maine, Deborah Haudel of Massachusetts and Anthony Bernard of Maine, 11 step-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass is being planned in Ormond Beach, Florida at a later date. Cemetery Graveside Services will be held in Forsyth on Thursday, July 1,2004 at 10:00 A.M.
