Edna Ann Meissner, age 100, of Circle, MT passed away on August 17, 2020 at the McCone County Health Center.
Edna was born on May 3, 1920 in Colfax County, Nebraska to Frank and Olga (Horak) Klabenes. At the young age of nine Edna and her family moved to Montana in 1928. They arrived in February and knew nothing of Montana winters, but with the help of neighbors they made it through till spring. Edna attended grade school at the Stoney Butte School and graduated from Brockway High School in 1939. After school Edna remained on the farm to help her parents but would also work for neighbors to earn extra money to be able to purchase items for herself.
On July 12, 1941 Edna married the love of her life William Meissner and to this union they had three children, sons William and Jerry and a daughter Betty. Edna was very civic minded and volunteered much of her time to various organizations over the years. She was a leader in the Pride of the Prairie 4-H Club at Brockway and was active in the Senior Center, American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, and Brockway Homemakers Club.
Edna was an avid gardener and enjoyed planting a large garden every year so she could can all of her produce. She loved calving time, the farming time, the haying times and especially the falls. These were the times she was able to share with Bill and enjoy the bounty of the summer efforts.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill; one son, Billy Meissner and two sisters Irma Nerud and Gladys Klabenes. She is survived by her son, Jerry (Jeanne) Meissner, and their two children Jodi (James) Haynie and Justin (Melissa) Meissner her daughter Betty Menefee and her children Toby (Chrissylynn) Meissner, Mathew (Melissa)Menefee, and Zakari Menefee; one daughter -in-law, Flo Meissner and her children Vickie (Tim) McCloy, Julie Meissner and Carrie (Russ) Ziegler; one sister-in-law, Mary Meissner; thirteen great-grandchildren, eleven great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
