In Memory Of

Edna Sarah Seminole, age 93, of Ashland

March 12, 1927 – June 21, 2020

Ashland – Edna Sarah Redfox, 93 – March 12, 1927 to June 21, 2020, passed away at home.  Edna was the daughter of Robert Redfox and Cecelia (Whitemoon) Redfox.  Edna attended school in Busby, MT.

Edna started her first family with Jasper Whitecrane and had four children. Of the four children Demetris Whitecrane was a stillborn baby and is now with Edna.  Edna later married Robert Foote, Sr. and had three children together.  Edna later on in life had Michael Small Foote and raised Corey Spotted Elk with her late husband John Seminole.

Edna was known for her ability to cut up meat, especially dry meat.  She stayed very avid with her meat cutting skills right up to the age of 93.  Edna retired 1993 from St. Labre Group Home at the age of 66.  She loved being a houseparent to so many kids and to this day, many of the kids stayed in touch with her.  After retirement Edna moved over to the Shoulderblade Complex to begin her retirement years.  Edna and Rose Eagle Feathers began fund raising for the Fort Robinson Monument.  Edna and Rosie would not let go of the dream to memorialize the Northern Cheyenne ancestors of the Fort Robinson Massacre.  On July 14 through July 16, 2016, their dream came true with 200 Northern Cheyenne members and the Breakout Committee erected a 15-foot-high, 22-ton monument, 20 feet tall including the two-dimensional stainless-steel Morning Star designed to appear straight on from all angles.  Her dream was accomplished.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Cecelia (Whitemoon) Redfox, sister Helen Risingson; sister Irene Sanchez; brother Ralph Redfox; brother Irvin Redfox, Sr.; son Robert Foote, Jr, son Michael Small Foote, son Winslow Whitecrane; Grandson Joshua Brien; and grandson Adrian Spotted Elk.

Edna is survived her children, Vincent (Clara) Whitecrane, Grandchildren – Chris Whitecrane, Brandon Whitecrane, Amanda Whitecrane, Jason Roe, Colven Longknife, Caidence Longknife, CeCe Longknife, Jonah Bush, Sarah Bush, (Adopted) Dion Killsback; Connie Whitecrane, Grandchildren – Rene (Brad) Reinhardt, Alex Whitecrane, Erik (Kelsey) Wolcott, Sarah Mason, Clayton (Lisa) Mason, Michelle (David) Boone,  and Louann Mason; Eva Foote, Grandkids – Kenneth “Buddy” (Mariah) Brien, Keyson and Teddy Brien; Corey (Shannara) Spotted Elk – Grandchildren, Sean Bearcomesout, Tala, Desea, Dani, Adrian, Eldon, Amanda, Broncette, Baja, Ho’dook’o, Larenzo, Laniya, Leila, Bubba, Jodan, Arya, and Naloni Spotted Elk; Verlin Foote – Grandchildren Ryan (Anna) Foote and Robert Foote; grandchildren – Angela Whitecrane and Deanna (Abram) Whitecrane.  Adopted sons Curtis Yarlott, and Jason Su
