He attended SH and Libby Country School and graduated from Custer County District High School in 1965. Following high school, Ed entered the United States Navy in which he served a short time before being medically discharged. On March 27, 1971, Ed married Linda Stieg in Miles City and from this union, their only son, Chad was born. In 2000, Ed moved to Miles City where he drove truck until the time of his death. Ed was an outdoorsman at heart. He loved to camp and fish and made several trips to Canada to do so. He and Linda had a place at Fort Smith- Yellowtail Dam and spent many wonderful vacations up there camping and fishing. Ed also enjoyed woodworking. Throughout the years he has made and given away many special projects to family and friends. His family and friends were the most important thing in his life, and he will be forever remembered and missed among them.

Ed is survived by his son Chad Edward Jone's and his wife Amber of Kansas City, MO; a brother, William Bill Jone's and his wife Pansy of Miles City, MT; a sister, Frances Bartholomew and her husband Don of Tongue River Stage; and numerous nieces and nephews.
