Edward Gottlieb Gaub, age 91, passed away August 18, 2019 at the Prairie Community Nursing Home in Terry, Montana.
Eddie was born June 4, 1928 in Marsh, Montana to Gottlieb G. and Magdalena Hein Gaub. Brothers Ervin and Miles and sisters Melisena, Ruth, Marion, Edith, Dalyce and Jeanette completed the family.
After graduating from high school, he taught at the Bassert School for one year, and then went into the service. When he came back from the Army, he returned to school under the GI bill to study bookkeeping and accounting. He worked for an accounting firm for a few years, and in 1959 went into business for himself. Eddie continued to do accounting and taxes into his 80’s.
In 1961 he married Dolly Grainger Pfiefle and gained a step-son Gary Pfiefle.
Eddie had many hobbies. He restored and collected many antique cars and loved driving them and showing them off. He loved photography and took thousands of pictures; his favorites being clouds, sunsets and the Calypso Trail. Prairie County and family history was very special to him and nothing tickled him more than a good joke or passing out candy.
Volunteering and working at the Prairie County Museum was always important and Ed spent many hours there. He was also instrumental in getting the Evelyn Cameron Gallery started. Hunting, fishing and agate picking were always enjoyed and nothing was better than a ride in the country.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolly, grandson Kristoffer Pfiefle and several siblings. He is survived by his step-son Gary Pfiefle (Lois), grandson Mikael Pfiefle, siblings Miles Gaub, Marion Anderson, Dalyce Record and Jeanette O’Dea. There are also many nieces, nephews and special friends.

Eddie is definitely a big part of our memory of living in Terry. The lights to his business were on many a nights. He & Dolly were a big part of the parades. I remember a specific story Dolly shared with us about their dog. Their fur baby had a sensitive stomach & was not to eat ‘people’ food. Dolly could not convince Eddie to stop the habit so she was continually cleaning up after the dog. Eddie must have shared candy more than just parade time!

Miles, Jeanette and Family,
My father, Arnold, and I would like to extend our sincere condolences to you and your family. Eddie was a very kind man and will be missed. I remember Eddie letting my sister help him during tax season while she was going to school and wanting to learn accounting. He must have been a good teacher, as she went on to work for FDIC. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
